Iran 'shoots down unmanned plane'
Daily Telegraph ^ | April 9, 2006

Posted on 04/09/2006 11:09:32 AM PDT by West Coast Conservative

IRAN had shot down an unmanned surveillance plane in the south amid reports that the United States is planning military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, a press report said today.

"This plane had taken off from Iraq and was filming border areas," a report in the hardline Jumhuri Eslami newspaper said.

It added the Islamic Republic "officials have obtained information from the plane system and recordings", without giving any further details.

US publications reported over the weekend that the White House was studying options for military strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities to pressure Tehran to abandon its controversial nuclear program.

The US media has reported that the US military has been secretly flying surveillance drones over Iran since 2004 using radar, video, still photography and air filters to detect traces of nuclear activity not accessible to satellites.

Wasn't Iran complaining just before Christmas of last year of a marked increase in sighting of "UFOs" all across their country?

Preadators and Global Hawks must have every inch of Iran GPS mapped and designated by now. Tax dollars well spent!

Jack.

Hard-Core would be nice. Scare the crap out of the rest of the Middle East Contenders in an instant!

We can make it rain Tomahawks for 40 days and 40 nights. Destroy Iran's Air Force on the ground. Up-root their ground forces, and it wouldn't put much of a dent on our Inventories.

Once the dust settles, we can haul in the MOABs, BUFs, Apaches and A-10s to take care of whatever's left standing ahead of sweeping Armor and Infantry.

Jack.

"officials have obtained information from the plane system and recordings"

But they couldn't find a Betamax to play it on.

And this is why we fly unmanned aircraft! There's no pilot to parade through the streets in a tiger cage.

"[Iranian] officials have obtained information from the plane system and recordings"

As a result, it is feared that the Iranians might learn the art of flying.

I think they shot down our only available recon ability :)

Now will have to bomb the entire country to make sure we get the nuke plant.

The strike on Iran will be executed on a technological level that the Iranians can't even fathom. The last war that the Iranians fought was a WW I "massed troop" effort. They will be stunned.
