I don't think Minutemen are vigilantes, but to answer you question, some of them are U.S. citizens - the rest are legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

The Washington Times on March 25, 2005 seemed to "KNOW":

'He condemned the organizers of Project Minuteman as "vigilantes" even though they have broken no law and pledge not to do so.'

If you left your dog locked in the house for a couple of days and then found a "pile" on the floor, would you claim to "KNOW" the dog did it?

As an earlier poster pointed out, "There are none so blind as those who will not see."

Per the MSM it's 'undocumented'
To Barbara Feinstein it's 'future Americans'

To the vast majority of Americans...
Illegal Aliens.

Future Democrat Voters."

I think you mean current Democrat voters.

I posted your quote.

There is no doubt to anyone that W was talking about the MMP....nonewhatsoever.

I bet if I mine carefully I can find where many here including maybe even you used W's remarks at that time to discredit the Minutemen.

There were some purges of some folks around here at that time. Several of whom a few years ago I viewed as alarmist .

Well, THEY WERE RIGHT. I WAS WRONG.

AND I APOLOGIZE FOR MY OWN VIEWS 4-6 years ago on this...if they are watching.

What do you mean by "hunting people"?

As if the Minutemen were out to kill people they caught crossing the border?

Are you an illegal alien sympathizer?

If you knew there was no other dog around, yes, That's not what the Washington Times did though.

Facts? It seems to me that just about everyone on this thread has quoted the facts over and over. You just don't want to see them.

No .. they quote an article from a reporter who took the Presidents words out of context

I don't answer questions from anyone on this issue unreasonable enough to advocate "Shoot first, ask questions later."

Hayworth says Bush insulted Minutemen

WASHINGTON - Rep. J.D. Hayworth on Wednesday accused President Bush and others of having "maligned" the Minuteman Project, the civilian patrol group that placed volunteers along a 23-mile stretch of the Arizona-Mexico border this month to monitor immigrant activity.

And another Republican lawmaker, Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, called on Bush to "meet with the people he calls vigilantes," and "issue an apology to these folks for what he's called (them)."

Both lawmakers, members of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, made their remarks during a news conference at the Capitol attended by Minuteman organizers and dozens of supporters, an event that nearly took on the fervor of a religious revival. advertisement

Another Arizona member of the caucus, Republican Rep. Trent Franks, also praised the Minutemen who are based in southeastern Arizona, though he did not criticize the president. White House spokesman Taylor Gross said Wednesday that no apology will be coming from the White House.

Gross explained that on March 23, when asked by a reporter about his view of people "hunting" migrants along the border, Bush simply said he was opposed to "vigilantes in the United States of America."

Bush later added: "I'm for enforcing the law in a rational way; that's why you have a Border Patrol and they ought to be in charge of enforcing the border."

Gross said the president has not changed his position.

You seem to be contradicting yourself here, Mo1:

I agree .. I don't think he knew the details like we on the internet did

You seem to be referring here to the attempted Stormfront involvement with the Minutemen, saying President Bush didn't know about it.

Yet in earlier posts, you assert that President Bush was referring to Stormfront when he talked about "vigilantes".

Which is it?

If you BELIEVE that, then Hayworth and Tancredo are the ones jumping the gun (pun intended - maybe those of you who want to "Shoot First, and Ask Questions Later" will understand that).

I can't speak for others poster

I will say .. when the project first started there were many concerns about the minuteman project because there were certain groups who wanted to get involved because they wanted to cause troubles ... there was talk about shooting illegals coming over the boarder

In fact .. AT THE TIME .. there were also a number of congresscritters who didn't jump on board right away because they too had concerns regarding this reports/stories

SINCE THAT TIME .. from what I've read ... the leaders of the Minutemen project have done the best they can to keep out the troublemakers and to make it a legit boarder watch

That was all my point was .. some here are mixing what happen then to what is happening now ..

I think the jury is still out.
I cannot decide if this is a pure fiasco,
or a Carl Rove move.

The polls from the weekends have the MSM all up set.
56% polled want illegals out, sent home, no benefits, absolutely no citizenship.

No he didn't mention the group by name .. he was talking about the trouble makers .. and that is why he called them vigilantes

You are still doing what you accuse others of doing, putting words in Bush's mouth. Since Bush did NOT specify who he was referring to, then aren't we ALL coming to our own conclusions with no real way of knowing which of us has come to the "correct" conclusion?
