If Minutemen Are Vigilantes, What Do You Call 500,000 Illegal Aliens Demanding Rights?
NewsByUs.com ^ | Apr 10, 2006 | Citizen Conservative

When the Minutemen set up shop at the Arizona border last year to call attention to the illegal alien loophole in US Homeland Security, President Bush foolishly chided these brave patriots by calling them vigilantes. Although chagrined at being deserted by the man who has the constitutional responsibility and authority to defend our borders, the Minutemen dug in their heels and persisted. And persisted.

Their Yankee determination to do the right thing was rewarded when President Bush finally sent additional border patrol agents to Arizona. Even the Mexican government was motivated to pay greater attention, at least temporarily, because of the due diligence of heroic Minutemen.

Before the Minuteman took their courageous stand, open border advocates and anti-American liberals insisted it was “impossible” to stop illegal immigration. Best to just accept reality, learn Spanish, and switch to rice and beans as food stables, according to the leftists and Hispanic racists.

Thank God, the Minutemen PROVED illegal aliens CAN be stopped, thereby delivering a great victory on behalf of all American citizens.

That's great .. but you are still ignoring my point that stormfront group was trying to infiltration the project back in those days .. they boosted about it on their websites

I'm not ignoring it. I was and am well aware of it. However, you're ignoring the fact that it was NOT that small story that the President was referring to. I suspect he didn't even know about the suspect infiltration. I also know that you're a blithering fool and should quit while you're ahead.

They were "migrants" when all they did was to pick fruit and vegetables.

Now they are doing construction work and many other jobs that don't require them to "migrate" all over the country.

Many fruit and vegetable picking jobs are now done by machine. We don't need nearly as many "migrants" to pick crops anymore.

So why are so many more of them here now?

What part of that don't you understand?

I thought the Minuteman Project was NOT hunting migrant people along the border?

So, now the other Bush apologist moron checks in.

No, the Minuteman Project was NOT hunting migrant people along the border. However, this IS how they were be portrayed in the national media. Thus, that is how the question about them was formed and asked of the President.

Get a clue!!

If Minutemen Are Vigilantes, What Do You Call 500,000 Illegal Aliens Demanding Rights?

-Future Democrat Voters
-Undocumented Workers
-Economic Refugees (haven't heard that one yet!)
-Eradicated Disease Incubators (haven't heard that one yet either, though I suspect for a different reason).
-Linguistic Reformers (haven't heard that one yet, for probably the same reason)

...but what they really are is criminals who are bad for America.

Facts? It seems to me that just about everyone on this thread has quoted the facts over and over. You just don't want to see them.

There are none so blind, as those who would not see.

Stop your lame argument.

He [Bush] was talking about the trouble makers like those from Storm front who were trying to get involved with the Minutemen project when it first started up

You've said that posters were incorrect when they've said Bush called the Minutemen vigilantes. You're now saying that Bush was actually referring to those from Storm front. By claiming that, aren't you now doing what you've accusing others of, i.e., putting words into the President's mouth?

I still believe that the reporter was inquiring about the Minutemen and that Bush was also thinking of the Minutemen when he responded.

Here was the exchange:

Q. And, President Bush, I wanted to ask you about your opinion about those people who are hunting migrant people along the border.

PRESIDENT BUSH: I'm against vigilantes in the United States of America. I'm for enforcing law in a rational way. That's why you got a Border Patrol, and they ought to be in charge of enforcing the border.

Employers:
What Part of Illegal in Illegal Alien do YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
"Any person who . . . encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such . . . residence is . . . in violation of law, shall be punished as provided . . . for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs . . . fined under title 18 . . . imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."
IT'S AGAINST THE LAW!!!

He wasn't talking about the minutemen ... he was talking about the trouble makers like Stormfront who openly stated they wanted to shoot the illegals crossing the border

This being the second time in this thread you've posted this opinion without proof.

I'm not ignoring it. I was and am well aware of it

Well thank you for not ignoring what that group was trying to do

. I suspect he didn't even know about the suspect infiltration

I agree .. I don't think he knew the details like we on the internet did

Though I am sure he knew there were some people who only wanted to start trouble on the boarder .. aka .. the vigilantes .. because the papers at the time were reporting on people who wanted to start trouble

With that all said .. From what I've read .. the leaders of the minutemen project did they right thing in distancing themselves from groups like SF and to make it a legit border watch
