This might get me forever banned from FR...but I can't help but believe that we need to have a little more clarity on just what we are against. I can't read the hearts and minds of other conservatives, but I fear that, for some, this issue is more about defending our "heritage" from outsiders than it is about security or law-abidingness. This is the real reason why passions are so high for some. I, for one, fear NOTHING from a population that is for the most part ethical and hardworking, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I understand the argument that we cannot condone lawbreaking (i.e. illegal border crossing) and we need to make our borders more secure. Those are reasonable arguments. The other arguments ... I don't think so.

heritage? We are all immigrants. Sure I feel becoming bilingual sucks and having to have everything I buy read both in english and spanish and having to press #2 for english and #1 for spanish but really, for me it is about law. So can the whole world just come invade and start demanding rights? This is more than mexicans... our border security is obviously a bigger problem...
