Reid has an image?

Yeah, it's dull and vapid like Tom Daschle's.

Analysts say it's obvious Reid's new status, which requires him to spout the Democratic party line aggressively and also take the brunt of Republican attacks, has turned off home state voters who saw him as independent. Some are surprised at the magnitude of the shift.

Reid could have chosen to be a real leader and move his party closer to the center and away from the moonbats. He had a good resume-- pro-life, a prosecutor who ran the mob out of Las Vegas, moderate views as evidenced by his 40% conservative voting record before he became majority leader, religious, at least on the surface . . .

Had Reid done so, he could be majority leader. In at least one state (Nebraska), the Democrat senator is far, far better than his Republican counterpart. A few more like him would have been enough to shift the entire Democrat party back into the mainstream and isolate people like Kerry, Kennedy and Pelosi on the lunatic fringe where they belong.

But Reid chose to do none of these things. Instead, he took the lead in attacking quite moderate and likable Supreme Court nominees (Roberts and Alito), shilling abortion votes for Barbara Boxer and generally acting as the mouthpiece for the moonbat fringe. Just like Tom Daschle. Hopefully, Nevada will find someone just like John Thune to replace him.
