Replace Rumsfeld?
The Washington Post ^ | 4-14-06 | David Ignatius

With luck, Iraq will make a fresh start soon with the formation of a new government. The Bush administration should do the same thing by replacing Donald Rumsfeld as defense secretary. (IS ANYONE OTHER THAN LIBS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY?)

Rumsfeld ultimately has to follow the policy dictates of the President.

This is getting so old. It is not going to happen.

I wish the critics would just find something else to harp about already.

The SecDef is more than just the PR guy for the Defense Dept. Just because he's good about putting reporters in their place doesn't mean he's done a good job in Iraq. When 6 retired generals say he needs to go, it's time we should say, "Hmmmm...."

I read a fiction book by this guy several years ago that wasn't too bad.

Maybe he ought to stick to writing fiction.

Oh wait..... He writes for the Washington Post.
Ergo, ALL he DOES write IS fiction.

You don't know what you are talking about. Rumsfeld is the reason that war is not a complete disaster. 6 retired generals adds up only to 6 men who did NOT get the top jobs and had to go.

The monomaniacal attacks by the MSM on Donald Rumsfeld and also Dick Cheney are just plain tiresome.

These attacks confirm that the hard-core Left international movement has solidified their editorial control of our MSM.

The uniformity of their attacks evinces a fairly clear "organizational" enmity based on their communist sympathies. And they know their enemies. They know that both Rummy and Cheney are ultimately the most savvy and alert to the threats of potential communist resurgence...certainly in this administration. And the strongest advocates for forthright action to put such threats out of commission.

Hence...to the communists...they are the biggest, perhaps the only threats to their plots.

I actually think Rumsfeld enjoys being a lightning rod. Sort of like me, on this forum.

I heart Rummy! :-)
He stays AND we win the war on terror. We already won the war in Iraq.

Exactly...And if these 6 Generals knew so much, why weren't they promoted to the top spots and why didn't they come up with these accusations until after they retired? A couple were retired before the war started.

I can't claim to have made it up to wearing stars, but IMHO he is the best Secretary of Defense EVER.

The opinions of six 'clintonian' generals rates only a little higher in convincing me than a 30 year E-5

When 6 retired generals say he needs to go, it's time we should say, "Hmmmm...."

I'm sure all of Saddam's Generals would agree with the media-generals.

I'm sure you would agree that generals who seek out al jazeera or the NYT to whine about Rumsfeld have no credibility.
