Weekend Talk Show *Preview* for 4/15-4/16/06 (not the live thread)
I'm going to try a little different formatting this week. The listings were growing too long to let us look at and organize the show contents after I started adding the Saturday shows. So what I'm going to do is add 3 message posts on this thread, in this order
Then I'll send out the ping to everyone. I hope this will help make the thread easier to navigate. Yes, I know it's posted Sunday then Saturday, but I think of Sunday's shows as the major leagues - if there's a consensus that folks would like it the other way for "proper order" then I'll switch (if I even do this again, it's up to y'all).
I thought about making one message per show, plus the guests, but that would have given me around 10 messages before I sent out the ping list and somebody would probably beat me to the last message and mess up the sequence (I can be slow posting sometimes). If this works and you folks like it maybe I'll try that next week (or not, depending on your feedback).
As always, this is NOT intended to be the live Sunday Morning Talk Show thread. I trust AB will do that as usual. This is strictly a preview of who will be on the main shows. The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread.
I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for.
It appears that most of the shows are pre-recorded for Easter. All but CBS Face The Nation were up as of 2 PM on Friday.
Happy Easter, joyous Passover and best wishes for all
On to the shows.
To Zinni's credit, he was against it from the word go. However, like the rest, he has no alternative idea just is against the plan. A 1st year plebe could explain the obvious strategic reasons to liberate Iraq. These are Political Generals grinding political axes not serious strategists with a better plan.
I think most of the shows were in the can by mid day Friday or even Thursday for the Easter Weekend break. Everything but FTN was posted by mid day Friday on their web sites and I bet FTN was done, but they haven't updated their page since 4/2. As yesterday I usually find what's on FTN when the "The Guests This Week" wire story starts to get posted, usually at SJ Mercury or Forbes.
The Soros news cycle management team blew this one. They timed the "breaking news" to dominate the weekend shows with the "dump rummy" stuff, but as committed atheists they forgot about Easter weekend basically taking the news cycle out of the equation, except for Headline News and Chris Matthews. That has to be considered a big failure for them.
I wonder if they'll try to restage all of this next week or wait for some specific incident to trot these guys back out again. If Soros isn't in the country we damn sure ought to have a tap on every phone even remotely associated with him. He's probably got Zarqawi on speed dial.
here's a good thread.
US generals call for Rumsfelds ouster [Leftism behind the effort exposed.]
examining the motives of these guys based on the phrases they choose to use in framing their attacks. Straight out of MoveOn.ORGs script for groups like Code Pink and remarkably like what John Kerry said about Vietnam and is saying now. You can argue with the poster's interpretation of what they say, but I agree with the conclusion he draws.
These loons really didn't learn anything from Vietnam. My question is, did we?
It's time to stomp on these guys. Hard!
I'm not questioning their patriotism. I'm outright accusing them of either
1) dereliction of duty for carrying out orders they now claim they knew at the time were based on lies and were therefore illegal
or, the only alternative,
2) treason and providing aid and comfort to the enemy in tme of war.In either case they're guilty of violating their oaths and violating the UCMJ.
Holt Plays Down Middle, Downing Suggests Critical Generals Have Axes to Grind
Downing is retired U.S. Army general and an NBC analyst Wayne Downing. His take on these guys is probably a lot more on the money than my somewhat <g> overheated view.
OK. Maybe they're not traitors in the strict sense (but maybe they are... the jury's still out). But they are loud mouths talking out of turn and probably doing it for base motives.

Yet another article and thread about Rummy and the Generals
Yeah. I was just there.
13 to 19 stars.
That's a keeper! ;^>
I think things are trending our way on this story. Now, will the MSM pay attention? The bit from the Saturday Today Show was encouraging.
I am hoping that the idiots keep it up next week (probably being prodded by the DNC from Soros)...
And then when Congress gets back the next week...SOME GOP Senator or House member will actually stand up for Rummy and blast the "tactic" that is being used.
I also think that the Plame investigation has totally stopped pretending to be about Plame, and Libby's alleged perjury, but about the pre-war intelligence. This is all about trying Bush/Cheney for lying about the reasons we went to war, disguised as the Plame case, IMHO.
Are you watching this ridiculous "debate" on Newswatch about Seymour Hersch's article about the USA nuking the sites in Iran???
Neil Gabler acted just like Harry Reid does in the Senate when the GOP have one up on him.,...LOL
catching bits and pieces.
The more Neil speaks the better I feel about my side of the debate.
I'm waiting for the transcript. I believe I'll have much fodder for future posters and bumper stickers quoting Neil. He's so valuable to us on the right side. You just can't make up stuff like this.
It's so terrible that you almost feel sorry for them.
Phsstpok...forgive me for using your thread as an outlet to vent on things I hear on TV today.
There are no talk show threads that I normally use...LOL
BUT, I just heard on the Fox Report that Diane Feinstein said today...that the US needs to use more comprensive DIPLOMACY re: Iran, instead of threats of nuke attack...
WELL...I just about came unglued...because it wasn't the Bush Administration that said anything about nuke attacks, it was the hit piece by S. Hersch!!!
PLUS, all we have heard for YEARS, from the dems, is that Bush should never have gone into Iraq...when Iran is the REAL threat, and how we can't let them get nukes. (except the 2 Johns of course, in the 2004 campaign, they wanted to GIVE uranium to Iran)...
So, what does DIFI come out and say IN PUBLIC? Does she come out, on the day that Iran is having a "yellowcake party", and say "Iran better not be planning on weaponizing any uranium"....or something like that...
NOOOOOOOOOOo She comes out IN PUBLIC and WARNS President Bush NOT to threaten attack...and USE DIPLOMACY!!!!
Does this woman a. Have a brain? or b. Have any allegience to THIS country?
Oh dear, sleuth. If you, like the dems, have no core beliefs, you will end up saying anything. Look at how consistent people like Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and Victor Davis Hanson are. And Mark Steyn as well. They seek no political power. They have tremendous understanding after long study and hard thinking (with minds blessed with intellegence, to be sure) and they just work at the work that they do. They seek to enlighten themselves and then to share what they learn. They don't seek office or power over others. (I may just be looking for the blessing we have at ths time:)
Great points...unfortunately, those wonderful men you mentioned do not actually VOTE on what to do.
I know that if President Bush has proof that Iran is going to strike Israel...or actually have nukes...he will HAVE to go not only before the UN (sigh)...and Congress to get permission to strike...
I think DiFi has just told the world, that SHE and dems will fight him on it...
If Steyn, Williams, Hansen and Sowell had votes in the Senate, THEN I might be able to laugh at her.
BTW...OT----I was reading the thread on Tony Snow's commentary about Easter....you and defconw were NOT going to get anywhere with some of those posters...just as well you backed off...
BUT, I enjoyed your first post, very much.
I just hope someone in the Admin is reading them. Their ideas have made it through to the publics' consiousness, if only because they are so obviously right. This works for the good folks on both sides of the political spectrum. I just wish we could make our President see this. But this is not a time to despair.
Are you having an Easter Egg Hunt at your house???
I don't have a thing planned with family....I let them enjoy the Easter Bunny and church...
I know it is supposed to be about 15 degrees above normal-- in the 90's, so I am glad we didn't plan a picnic...whew.
Quite the contrary. DiFi is one of the guests this week, so this is 100% on topic. Even if she weren't her comments would be worth including as she is one of the major voices used to push the official dim talking points.
Plus, you never have anything to apologize for. You are always contributing to moving the conversation forward. Even when I'm wrong I feel I've added to the conversation by giving others the chance to correct me and educate others (as well as me). I see no fault in what you have posted.
As to the thrust of your post, I have the "benefit" of personal (though indirect) contact with DiFi when she was mayor of SF. She did things to people and institutions I held near and dear at the time (not themselves political, but she did what she did for political reasons) and she forever gained my enmity.
She's not one of the "honest politicians" who I'll cut some slack, even if I disagree with them. She's one of the bad guys.
Thank you for the nice things you said...
About DiFi...thanks also for a more "personal" opinion. It always helps to hear more about the politicians than just what the media or their publicists want you to know.
Yes, but we have huge crows around here so we are very careful :)
