Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused Israel of "openly committing crimes," saying the era of Muslim awakening in the Middle East had arrived.
Khamenei spoke at a three-day conference -- dubbed "International Conference of Holy Qods (Jerusalem) and Support for the Rights of the Palestinian Nation" -- attended by some 600 foreign officials in Tehran, Iran Focus reported.
He said jihad was not only taking place in occupied Palestine and Jerusalem, but all over the Islamic world.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who recently called for Israel to be "wiped off the map," also attended and addressed the conference.
Parliament speakers from Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Sudan, Indonesia, Uganda, Cameroon, Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leon, Cuba, Comoros, Madagascar, Malaysia, Qatar, Mauritania, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Guinea were expected to take part in the event.
