I disagree. if the broadcasters get away with using filthy langiuage the airwaves will be filled witf f words and s words just like the movies are filled with them today to the point where you cant see a decent movie without getting your ears burned.

I dont need to turn it off now , it isnt there. It shouldnt be there . If you wish to hear filthy language on your TV rent a movie. The government IS in TV and will stay there. Most movies are censored now, in some like Smokey and the bandit, the censorship does ruin the movie.

The US doesnt need foul obscene language proliferating its airwaves. The government has always censored radio and radio traffic among users of commercial radio's. I doubt it will stop.

In some movies the original cast records a "tamer" version and unless you knew the script from the theater version you wouldn't really notice. Then there was Die Hard 2 where John McClane's (Bruce Willis) line was changed from "Yippee-kye-yay, M*#*@*# F(#*#*#!" to "Yippee-kye-yay, Mr. Falcon!". First, the line made no sense. Second, the person who said "Mr. Falcon" didn't sound anything like Bruce Willis. It would have been far less jarring to just remove the line altogether.

Here's my concern: the only reason there's any argument over what's indecent and what ain't is that we haven't sold the airwaves yet. To me, the big question isn't whether the seven dirty words are dirty or not, but WTF is the FCC doing holding on to any jurisdiction over this stuff? Why is the federal government holding property like airwaves unnecessarily? These could have been sold YEARS ago and the owners would have been paying into the federal tax coffers instead of Americans.

Hey, I made E-4 twice in 4 years in the Air Force that should have made me an E-8 but it didn't.

Do you think that content from private broadcasters (satellite radio & cable, for eg.) should be subject to FCC censorship as well?

Your right on both counts. I just wish the government would stay out and the networks would clean up its own mess.

If you are a Ham operator you are subject to FCC regulation, What is more private than that. There is no such thing as being a "private" broadcaster. When you put messages in the air they are far from private.

I only made E-4 once, a month after they changed it from Sergeant to Senior Airman. They argued that I wasn't qualified for it because I hadn't gotten my 5-level certification as a photographer, and tried to ignore the fact that I had made it as an aircraft mechanic before I wrecked my knees and had to retrain. Took me another year (me and about 10-15,000 others) to make Sgt. Late 70's? Something like that. By then we'd become a little less like the Army. One of my HS buddies had enlisted in the Army, and told me they were busting people whose shoes weren't shined satisfactorily at the end of the day. (In the USAF, they might bust you if they weren't shined properly at the beginning of the day, but they did know what they had done to you that day...)

I figured you'd have a sense of humor about it, but I've figured wrong once in a while, too. Thanks! Have a happy and blessed Easter!
