Militants in Jammu and Kashmir have devised a novel way to carry out blasts.
An explosive-filled cigarette seized from a civilian last night indicated that the ultras are deviating from their usual techniques and working on different ways to target people in the state.
A civilian got injured when he ignited such a cigarette in the remote Mislai village in Thathri area of Doda district, Col D K Badola, heading the 16 Corp Media Centre, told PTI.
"Militants are now using explosive-filled cigarettes to carry out blasts in Jammu and Kashmir. One such cigarette has been recovered last night," Col Badola said.
"This was for the first time that a cigarette filled with explosive has been recovered from this area," he said.
"A civilian Hansraj Thakkar of Mislai found two Capstan cigarettes in the village and ignited one for smoking. However, it exploded causing injuries to his right hand," Col Badola said.
Army has begun an investigation into the incident, as the method can pose danger to the lives of people in the state, he said.

Jammu, Apr 17: Five terrorists of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami have been arrested and a Hizbul Mujahideen militant laid down arms before security forces in Rajouri and Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said today.
Four Huji militants crossed over to this side of the line of control from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and were arrested by troops them a forward post in Keri area of Rajouri district last night, they said. They have been identified as Shabir Mohmmad alias Usman, Khurshid alias Amir of Verinag in Anantang, Nazar Mehmood and Shakil-ul-Rehman of Doda district and sent for interrogation. A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive material were seized from the militants, they said. Security forces conducted a raid on a house in Kakrthia area in Kishtwar block of Doda district last night and arrested another Huji militant identified as Fareed Ahmed alias Shahid and seized an ak-56 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds, a UBGL and six UBGL grenades. He was actively involved in militancy since 2000, they said. A Hizb militant Mohmmad Bashir, meanwhile, laid down arms at an army function in Kotranaka area of Rajouri district today, a Defence spokesman said.
