I suspect it has something to do with the fact that pedophiles don't get cured, especially just by "paying their debt to society" through jail time. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1618514/posts. And the damage that the pedophile does to children is deep and long term to the kids. Get involved some time with an investigation into pedophiles that frequent bathrooms in parks, etc. No jail time is sufficient, IMHO.
