Execution Of Texas “Railroad Killer” Delayed

(April 20, 2006)--Harris County prosecutors say next month's scheduled execution of Angel Maturino Resendiz has been delayed for more psychiatric testing.

Maturino Resendiz is the 45-year-old Mexican drifter dubbed the "Railroad Killer."

His execution has been moved from May 10 to June 27 to allow for the additional testing.

The condemned serial killer's attorneys contend he's insane and ineligible for execution under a 2002 Supreme Court ruling.

Earlier this month, they filed reports from two mental health experts who concluded Maturino Resendiz is delusional, schizophrenic and has an organic brain disorder.

But prosecutors say Maturino Resendiz is sane and is manipulating the court system.

Maturino Resendiz was condemned for the 1998 murder of 39-year-old Doctor Claudia Benton, who was raped, stabbed and beaten in her Houston-area home.

He got the name the "Railroad Killer" because he's linked to 14 slayings in Texas and five other states near the rail lines he rode nationwide.

Here is a little bit of trivia about this Case:

The SAC of the FBI task force that caught this guy was the 'plankholder' Company Commander of A Company, First Ranger Batallion at Ft. Stewart.

Best small unit tactician I ever worked with.

Yep. Just here to do murders Americans won't.

One reason he was so hard to catch is he kept jumping back and forth across the border, and the Mexican government was not only NOT helping catch him, they often hindered.

Of course he is crazy, and evil, and bad, and he lost his RIGHT to live when he killed so many innocent people. I don't care if you are crazy or sane, if you are a serial killer you should die. I had an insane cousin, and he never hurt a flea. I say FRY the GUY!

The man who brought Resendiz to justice was a Texas Ranger by the name of Drew Carter. It was NOT the FBI that got him.

Yes, The Texas Ranger made the arrest.

However, the FBI investigation provided the opportunity for him to do so. I guess I could have stated that more precisely. I did not mean to imply that the FBI actually made the arrest.

"He also was in charge of the investigation and coordination leading to the arrest of FBI's top fugitive and accused "Railcar Killer" Rafael Resendes Ramirez."

On June 2, the Border Patrol apprehended Angel Resendez near El Paso as he was attempting to cross the border illegally. While he was in its custody, the United States Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) performed a computer search on him, checking his fingerprints and photo against a possible fugitives list. Because the system failed to identify him as a wanted man, the INS deported him to Mexico.

The slip-up proved to be much more than an embarrassment – it wound up to be a crucial blunder. After his release, Resendez immediately found his way back into the States where, within 48 hours, he killed both Dominguez and Konvicka near Houston, then Morber and his daughter in Illinois. Four innocent people murdered over a computer glitch.

That's some immigration control we have. Nice work, INS! It only cost 4 lives that time. Massachusetts lost a father yesterday due to an illegal alien driving into him.

And alleged-Conservative Bush was to grant these scum amnesty?
