Kerry will mount defense of Iraq war criticism
The Boston Globe ^ | April 22 2006 | Raja Mishra

In a symbolically charged speech, US Senator John F. Kerry plans to declare today that Iraq war critics are patriots unfairly tarred by the Bush administration as disloyal.

The speech comes on the 35th anniversary of Kerry's antiwar testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in which he famously asked, ''How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

Kerry's 11 a.m. speech at Faneuil Hall is billed by his aides as a major address on patriotism, dissent, and Iraq.

In an op-ed piece in today's Globe, which aides say mirrors the themes of his speech, Kerry writes that: ''Thirty-five years later, in another war gone off course, I see history repeating itself."

''Again, we must refuse to sit quietly and watch our troops sacrificed for a policy that isn't working while Americans who dissent and ask tough questions are branded unpatriotic," writes Kerry.

Wow, that has got to be the best timing ever for you John. The media is going to spend all day covering the seating of a new four year Iraqi government, while you give your "Its patriotic to surrender Iraq to al-Qaeda" speech.

I saw a thread yesterday where this sick scumbag Kerry said he's "thinking about" running for president again. Could it be true?

It's the same traitorous speech he made 35 years ago. Only the names have changed. Amen.

I just heard Senator Kerry admit in a radio interview that he has virtually decided to enter the race for 08. This speech may be regarded as a declaration of intent.

It is clear that he is trying to inoculate himself against renewed attacks by the Swift Boat Vets by simply assuming his version of history: Their attacks hurt our democracy more than they hurt me.

From time to time one can hear pundits in the mainstream media rehearse the same ruse. They simply assume that the Swift Boat Vets lied and that therefore their criticism of Kerry should be dismissed out of hand. Unless I misjudge our men, the Swift boat vets will reenter the fray with all the vigor and ardor they demonstrated in the last election. Godspeed to them and I hope they find some allies who will force the mainstream media to at least tip their hats to the truth the Vets have brought to us.

I keep wondering who has the worst timing in politics?

Gore or Kerry

Each one is always striving to beat each other in this category.

More of that "how dare you question my patiotism" spiel. Kerry got away with it in 1971. He's not going to get away with it a second time thirty five years later.

"Where's the Barf Alert?"

The words "John Kerry" are in the headline. Do you need more?

"I am a GREAT Patriot!"

"Sen John Kerry;

Who the hell is John Kerry? Never heard of him.

He served in Vietnam and ran arms to the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.

Another accomplishment is that he appeared on the television show "Cheers". I can't think of any other notable things that he has done.
