Not everyone can plan and execute a perfect "30 year retirement plan." Merde se trouve.
I am 56 and worked for 20 years. I also had a nice "nest egg" put aside, which was used up to feed and educate 9 kids.
Now I am broke and I haven't been able to find another job since my last contract almost a year ago.
Oh, and my husband experienced a major medical catastrophe and now lives on disability.
So screw you and your superior attitude.
Why did you choose to have 9 kids? And why don't the kids pay for their own post secondary education?
Thank you for the offer but you're too old for me so no thanks. (Sorry, another rejection for you based on your age...)
On a more serious note, I never said that there aren't special circumstances. The problem is that not saving for retirement is the RULE in the U.S. rather than the exception. So, yes, Socialism/Communism is apparently the way to go because we can't have only a few people saving for retirement while the vast majority spend it all on new cars, plasma TVs, etc. Again, there are a FEW exceptions to this but the rule is spend, spend, spend...
You have ISP...
We have nothing saved for retirement due to unforeseen medical bills and credit card debts we incurred when we both found ourselves unemployed with two sons. My wife, God bless her soul has to commute 60 miles one-way into Boston from NH because they pay almost half less as much over the border for the same work in the "Live Free AND Die" state.
It is easy for rich people, or those who have not undergone difficult circumstances who have been able to save for one reason or another to cast stones and look down on people who are not in the position they are in. Thank you again. Dr. Jerry S

Missed your post, but I'm glad to second the sentiment.

I think you are fantastic. You are richer than that ego freak. Good luck to you. God has blessed you and will continue to do so. I am so proud of you and glad to know there are good people like yourself and your husband in this world.
Anyone who thinks their job is secure (unless they are self-employed) better rethink that!
