<< Many good things happen when Americans face an issue. This is just one. Those in the House that triggered this attention on illegal immigration are the real heroes. They made us and the illegals face the issue. Fortunately, the media were taken for a ride they couldn’t control. An issue they couldn’t hide behind any of political correctness, relativist nonsense or "multi-cultural" lies and deception. Mexican flags flew and the pimp media couldn’t ignore that bleed. And now the fury begins. It will subside when that fence is in place and Americans again feels a sense of control over our destiny.

The President of the United States best clearly understand the law and order crowds message. It is loud and clear and non-partisan.

Immediately close down the borders.

Close them by force until they can be secured electronically or a Howard Dean will.

Remember, a lying hypocritical Bill Clinton ran as a welfare reformer and stole many other Republican issues in 1996.

It will happen again, Mister President.

Best you get cracking. >>

the Democrats, with the help of their in-house pimp media, are going to steal this issue from them [Republicans] and win some serious seats in Congress.

It doesn't count as stealing an issue because the Republicans just left in in the trash next to "cutting government programs".

I have it from a pretty good source that the Border Patrol, Customs and Immigration are going to gear up for a massive crackdown on May 1st when the illegals plan to stage their petty little rants. I will be glued to the TV to watch this happen. Nothing like a cry of, "La Migra!" to get these people to scurrying like roaches the light hits them.

Dean sends a chilling message: Republican President Bush has failed at border security and Dean plans to make it a Democrat 2006 election issue.

Could it be that Dean and the Dems have out-stategeried GW? Bush is so far left on the issue of border control and amnesty for illegals (whatever name he's calling it) that he can't get back to center. How many Goppies are following him over the cliff?

Voters are not going to buy into what Dubya just floated in California (We can't deport them so why not give them citizenship after they pay a fine).

Shut down public services across the country to illegals and send in local authorities to arrest employers of illegals. The illegals will leave when there are no jobs or any other types of support available.

That about sums it up for me.

If you're not honest, you can promise anything, and I think they will play it both ways. They will try to paint the Repubs as anti-hispanic for opposing illegal immigration, and they will attack us for failing to secure the border.

They will be right about us, on the border issue, but dishonest as they have no intention of securing it themselves, unless they can create another bureaucracy and another dependent class by doing it...

We need to decriminalize minor marijuana and other petty drug use so we can make space in our prisons for "other than Mexican (and Central American) border invaders (especially if they come from suspect parts of the world).

We definitely need to defend our borders, but until we get the fences/electronics up, we should work a deal that if the Coyotes (guys who smuggle illegals) will tip us off to potential terrorists they are transporting, we will pay a reward. Of course, this will probably send more of them to Canada for border crossing, but that is a separate problem. Actually, Dean as former governor of Vermont may already be somewhat sensitized to this issue on a practical level.

If legislation is approved to allow people already in the country to become legal, it should include a stringent provision to learn English, and American civilization. When my grandparents came to the US in the 1890s, they wouldn't even let their children speak German in the home. As a result, I was almost 40 before it struck me that I was a second generation American. People who want the benefits of America should be willing to work for the priviledge. On the other hand, as another FR thread said about many of the Hispanic immigrants--"family oriented, hard working, religious, what's not to like?"

President Bush best wake up. His stance on immigration is presently untenable. The border gets closed or Republicans are blamed and will lose the 2006 elections. Growth of the economy be damned, America has decided that it prefers to retain its culture and wants its borders closed.

This bears repeating, again and again, until SOMETHING is done.

IMO, Democrats will do nothing, but pander, even after they win because repubs are sitting on their hands...

"Many good things happen when Americans face an issue."

Let's set a few things straight about the attention being received by the immigration issue at this point in time.

It's election-year ammunition for the Democrats.

That's all.

I find it hysterical that everyone is excited with the idea that the government has finally noticed that there is a problem, and that they are finally making an effort at fixing the problem by passing more laws they will not enforce. I guess they didn't know that millions of people had snuck into the country until just now.

Here's what someone much wiser than I had to say about that idea:

"Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." -- Ronald Reagan

And he gave illegal aliens an amnesty.

The American people, by and large, are led around by the nose by whoever pushes the buttons on the dashboards of the mass propaganda dissemination machines; today illegal aliens, tomorrow $4/gl. gasoline.

Don't get excited...nothing is really going to change.

....foisted on Americans by the leftist elitists and socialist school teachers in their quest for a world government...

Yeah. Right. They're the ONLY ones who have quest for a world government.

What a bunch of baloney. Every main player in this government wants that...just different means for the same ends. I really doubt I could be convinced by anyone that that is not true.

The real lesson here is truth and justice always will out. ...
In the process we get a clamp put on our porous borders and to thus provide a belated deterrent to Muslim killers. ....
Many good things happen when Americans face an issue. This is just one.

Whoa nellie! Is this a pre-release of a future article, or is this guy confused? Nothing has happened anywhere remotely like this. Congress ducked the issue, and there's no indication the Senate has changed its stripes....and Bush is threatenening vetoes again!

Now, the lock-down may eventually happen, but it sure hasn't happened yet!

I printed and returned this with a republican fund raising letter I received this week. I also wrote in black marker on their letter, "no money until you enforce the law".

I still agree with the President on this: mass expulsions would be political suicide, no matter what these polls say.

However, it is still early in this debate. The more demostrations, the more alarmed regular people are becoming. Eventually, they may be fine with expulsions of at least some, if they feel their safety and security is in danger from politicos trying to exploit new found power to move the border north.
