This will be fascinating to watch. No one is nicer than Tony, and he's a solid conservative. I'm sure he must get mad sometimes, but I've never seen it (or read it). In this job, however, it will be tough to keep that record and stay true and principled. I wish him well.

Yes, but this thread was made the day before yesterday. Also, you admit that you do not know what was seen on TV. Don't you think you should be checking with CNN to see if they changed the story, rather than jumping down the throat of someone on this thread?

Wrong, it is people like me who support reporting what all is reported in order to call the media on this "fake but accurate" reporting. If we were to go with your plan, no one would ever hold the news media accountable, because they would never see the contrast between reports.

You are not holding any news source to any standard at all. The person who posted this relayed exactly what they heard. That is not good enough for you, so you complain to and about others here. The report did not come from here, it came from CNN. You need to hold CNN to account otherwise they will continue to report 1 thing that can not be linked to and something else that can.

It's not good enough. Stories need to have supporting documentation. The story, as reported, wasn't even being reported by CNN. Maybe the original poster mishead because NO ONE was reporting what was posted.

That's a fact. The story should have been pulled at the beginning. So enjoy your "fake but accurate" reporting you support.

I stand by what I said as I have numerous times watched members of this forum treat new people like they know less then they do simply because they signed up later. If you had bothered to research what I said you would see that it is indeed true. Furthermore I was making a blanket statement. I was not singling you out.

While you may have observed that from some, in the context I was complaining about newbies it was the fact they were espousing how, being here a year or less, they think they can bark orders on how things go around this forum.

Apart from the stated rules or what the moderators determine should not be done on certain threads pretty much all comments are welcome. Telling me I "should take it elsewhere" or "go to DU" is not their right.

Except Lincoln, unlike Bush, would never have shown such inept efforts at defending the nation. He would never have tolerated the illegal immigration situation (I have no doubt to the point of sending armed Federal troops to round them up and kick them out), and was a hard-core protectionist. It's funny that you made the comparison, because if it were Lincoln instead of Bush he'd have all of the closed-border and protectionist/nationalists as allies and the OBL and Free Traders as enemies.

Looking back on all of those Tony Snow comments that we're highly critical of Bush, I understand better why he got hired. After all, what a better way to make a critic shut up than to hire him/her and be their boss! They figured out what Tony Snow's price is, and bought him.

That term does not move me, and I don't care how "conservative" you or anyone else is. I'm not one, nor would I ever want to be. That term is not holy writ. And those who hold it up as if it were truly puzzle me.

Also, if you have a position, "backing up" your position by stating how many others hold it as well is laughable. If you can't hold that position all by yourself, what good is it really?
