Well, those other countries sponsor (some shout it from the rooftops) terrorism. I didn't see any Muslims in any of the photos that freepers posted, so its a bit of an unfair comparison.

It's about the soverignty of our contry. Any country that get repatriated inevitably reverts to bloodshed or loss. How did we take the US from the indians? We populated it. How did we take the west? We populated it. Now they seek to do the same to us? We have to stop it or are we doomed! IT'S OUR'S! No squatters, no refugees, no nothing until we secure our country.

Why would anyone in politics do this?

Because they are fearful of a race war.

I don't they're avoiding it, only delaying it.

Cut off the free medical , schooling, books and all the other freebies , then give serious jail time to those who employ illegals. The illegals wtih then DEPORT THEMSELVES. What's so damned hard about that simple , common sense solution? if you cut off the REASON they come here they willgo back . this is not rocket science. Bush is playing games with those of us who put him there. I'm not getting the joke at all .

Massive deportations will not work, but let's start with:

Felons.

Jailbirds.

Gang members.

Those previously ordered deported.

Reconquista activists (the rallies would be a good place to start).

Those who have exercised rights reserved for citizens, such as voting.

Those suckling from the public teat.

Those crowding the ER's for routine medical care.

Those driving without licenses and/or insurance.

Those using phony ID's.

Once the above are deported, I'd be willing to see a million or so work permits issued.

Then a few more once some additional milestones are met such as:

Deportation of those who have lived here a long time and shown no inclination or desire to learn English.

Those who have a chronic history of consuming more in government benefits than they pay in taxes.

Those who engage in activities which show their loyalty is in question.

In addition to enforcement activities against the illegal alien invaders, enforcement of existing labor laws is a must milestone to which guest worker permits shall be tied. Employers who have clean records would have first dibs on such guest worker permits. Those who do not would be fined sufficiently to finance the program.

From my limited perspective regarding high-powered politics, it is apparent that this proposal offers an excessive amount of common sense and a direct solution...

(liberal BS mode on) to a very complex problem that will require serious analysis and further study to formulate a strategery that will attack the problem with the utmost urgency and priority so that the desired outcome can be facilitated without undue emphasis on the mitigating circumstances that color the argument for or against the repeated challenges to our position in light of the recent developments.....(BS mode off?)

I wonder how many good ideas like yours get FUBAR'd this way?

Who's pushing "massive" deportation?

No one I know.

BUTTTTTTTT.

If these illegals had the inner strength and where-with-all to get here in the first place, they certainly have the power to get themselves back home using that same strength (especially considering the $$ they made working in the US).

No, we can't deport them all at once.

But through attrition, we can likely force at least 2 or 3 million illegals a year to go home of their own accord.

IF, that is, we have the will to punish all who employ illegals ...... and IF we have the will to immediately deport any illegal who has committed a crime ..... and IF we have the will to incarcerate ANY AND ALL illegals caught in America pending deportation within 30 days.

No, we won't round up 12 million illegals all at once, but we can certainly make it so uncomfortable that the tide will turn and the flood will begin to head south from whence it began.

Massive deportation of the people here is unrealistic

I can agree with this statement. Can the President agree that mass legalization/naturalization is not realistic, either. All illegals should be rooted out. Are they working and the potential to be good citizens? They get to stand in line for legal entry--after those who are here legally are given due process. Are they at the public trough, druggies, scum? Get out and stay out.

Well then how many illegals can we deport?

Never know until you try.

A good start would be to empower states to deport any they catch, thus breaking the federal monoply; as long as federal law is otherwise observed.

" I'm starting to think that paying taxes is pretty damn unrealistic these days."

Yep, me too! You would think Federal Government protecting our borders would be a top priority and realistic! Bush has been pushing amnesty for some time. Guess Republicans will realize this in November. You can lead a horse to water, but..... eh.

If we:

A. plug the hole in the dike, ie control the border

B. remove the incentive to enter illegally by making it more difficult to get a job, and remove the free health care and education for illegals

C. refuse to grant an amnesty for those already here illegally

D. the problem will take care of itself as some decide to return home, and no more arrive by the millions.....

"Isn't it odd. I's not OK to go to Canada to buy cheap medicine but it is OK to get cheap labor from Mexico. Both are illegal but only one is OK."

Yes, it's a strange and curious thing. And the latter is dangerous to the security of the USA. Hummm.... Even talking about another amnesty (seven invitations already)! I've been reading about Aztlan, La Raza, etc. for years. Seems to be coming true. Now seems they want the whole enchilada!

I like my amnesty plan!
Please call them INVADERS and don't compare them to people who are legal aliens!
IF you aid and abet CRIMINALS, you are a criminal!

President Bush has been great on most things except for our border.
He has been great on the war on terrorists.
But on the border he is a gross failure.
He acted fast and correct on the 3,000+ people murdered at the world trade center.
He ignores the many rapes, murders and robberies which might be larger than the murders and money loss at the world trade center.
More Americans are abducted on the border of Mexico than in Iraq!

Start building the fence.
It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.

I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

He might have a point. What are we going to do, start rounding people up who look mexican or hispanic? Even if we knew exactly who is here illegaly, the ACLU would have a field day.

I'll bet that I could find 500 illegals on any given day, just by visiting some jobsites. I once worked for a blasting company and blast zone safety was one of my responsibilities. We were shooting for a waterline, in close proximity to a new subdivision. I had to notify the workers to stay clear of the blast. There were hundreds of people there and I was not able to find even one that could speak English, NOT ONE! I had to delay the shoot and find someone, offsite who could speak Spanish to make signs for me to hand out and post. Not that it helped, most of them ended up hiding in the first row of houses at the time of the shot, watching from behind the safety of glass windows. I have no doubt that we would have been sued had the blast not gone right and blown all the glass out or lobbed a rock through a wall or roof.

What's so damned hard

A piece of reality: Not all the 4 million granted amnesty under the Reagan Admin have yet been processed after 20 years. There are 5500 immigration agents. If the rest of the 4 million and the new 11-30 million are to be processed in any kind of timely manner, the agents' numbers will have to augmented, and that requires budget allocation, which comes from Congress.

I remember when I supported Bush 100% but he mostly lost me when he said it's OK for people to invade us. What does he care? He has his ranch (thanks to taxpayers and a little stadium deal) and security for life. And good for him but he might consider what paying for all the illegals does to us working stiffs.

Okay, provide the solution to this dilemma and you will indicate that you are actually applying logic, not just emotion to the problem.

A stadium holds 65,000 people for a concert scheduled for that day. There are currently 30,000 people in the stadium and 60,000 waiting in line outside to buy tickets to get in. 15,000 of the people inside are there with counterfeit tickets.

How do you extract the people with counterfeit tickets, allow the people with valid tickets to stay, continue admitting new people with valid tickets, conduct the concert in even a remotely on time fashion, and not incurr so much expense that the concert falls heavily in the red as a result?

This is the situation that best approximates the problem faced in solving the illegal immigration dilemma. It would be simple to deal with a single factor (kick all of the counterfeit ticket holders out!). The problem has multiple factors, and unless you address each factor, you don't have a solution.

The biggest problem is that all of these illegals were encouraged to come here and to stay here. The federal government has had a policy of doing this. They did it on purpose. They created the problem and now claim they can't fix it. You can see that in this chart:
