Sounds like it. I learned an important lesson the first time I used stink bait to catch catfish. I did really well with the catfish, but I forgot to bring a rag with me.

The way I was using it required sticking a treble hook down into the sticky bait. Well, I got it on my hands every time. No rag.

My wife made me just throw out all the clothes I was wearing. That stuff is some stinky crap.
