Where is Hollywood on immigration?
Washington Post ^ | The Washington Post | Darragh Johnson

WASHINGTON — Here's how it goes, pretty much: Controversy hits. Celebrities chime in. You've got your Kanyes trash-talking Bush after Katrina, and your Martin Sheens railing against the war in Iraq. You've got Susan Sarandons and Tim Robbinses agitating for Haitian refugees, and on a really good day, you've got Gulf Coast Savior Sean Penn commandeering a small boat, not just talking the talk, but rowing the row. Now the immigration debate is hot. But the celebrity squawk is, well, not. Where are the celebrities? Hello, Hollywood? Hellooo?

They are there, and they support "Immigrant rights". They just don't want to come clean at this moment.

Its not popular yet. As soon as one or two voice their scripted "opinion" the rest will jump on the bandwagon.

They are worried that they may have to give up their gardeners and nannies.

You know...the work Americans won't do.

they have to be totally against it, otherwise they would have to pay their servants a livable wage.

Edward James Olmos is just doing the over-emoting in schlockky preachy movies that American actors refuse to appear in.

They don't want to be on the same side as GW Bush on ANYTHING, even if he supports what they believe in (ie. amnesty for illegals).

To paraphrase Michael Savage, BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) is a mental disorder.

Olmos supports more rights for illegal aliens while the hardcore Aztlanites despise him as a Castilian elitist. No racism there...no siree - only whites can be racists.

Cheech Marin (of Cheech and Chong) made a movie about it awhile ago---pops up on Flix every now and then......based on Marin's parody of Bruce Springsteen song. "Born in East L.A." used to be a comedy----now its a horror story----when they all invade at the end.

If Hollywood wants to really increase their profits, they could hire illegals to star in blockbuster films for a nickel a day...

The opening sequence of "Men in Black" pretty much sums up Hollywood's attitude.

Here is what we do. Lets makle Malibu Beach an open campground for "undocumented immigrants" They stay there and live on the beach for free. That will fix Hollywood.

"We're a land of immigrants and nobody is from here."

Once again showing that you don't need a high IQ to be an actress. MOST of us were born here - that makes us from here. And means we are not immigrants.

Hollywood, at least the TV variety, has it's own version of immigrant workers called...."reality shows". Remember the days of paying those "Friends" lowlifes $1 million per episode? Not anymore, now with reality TV you pay "no-name" lowlifes nothing and still get primo ad dollars to all the network execs.

Hypocrite elitists laughing all the way to the bank....what else is new.

Ron Silver, to his credit, admits he is a liberal.
