Buchanan flopped himself! He caved in at the last minute and left all of his conservative supporters without a step to stand on. It is time we established a solid ground for conservatives. The Republican party left me long ago.

Buchanan's STILL trying, but flops worse every time he opens his mouth.

Can't shake the feeling that he's trying to establish an elected monarchy. (Of course, three-quarters of the Senate already act like they've already done it and they're the bloody King-by-Committee.)

I hope there is a split. I'd really like more than just a choice between the secular socialists (Democrats) and the religious socialists (Republicans).

There already is a conservative party in America; it's called the Constitution Party. Try voting for it some time.

I would but in TX you do not have to register. I have been calling myself a conservative independent since 2003.

Nope. All you are doing is helping elect Democrats. A glass 60% of pure water is being dumped out so the pseudo "Conservatives" can fill the glass 100% full of Leftist poison. Sorry your people fool NO ONE. Either by intent, or unforeseen consequence, you are actively working as Democrat Campaigners. Spare us the phony "conservative" bluster. You are NO Conservatives. NOTHING in life is perfect. Only petulant spoiled children think they can demand 100% perfection in politics Adults realize you simply pick the side the most closely represents your views and fight like heck to get them adopted. This bluster and chest thumping by "Conservatives" is merely the latest tactic adopted by the Moveon.org stooges to split the Republican Coalition.

But if the country is equally split now, wouldn't a third party open the door to the liberals and democrats and all the other names on the other side of the ideology?

It seems splitting the Conservative vote would put any voting power in the minority - and I hope someone will enlighten my dark thoughts. Thank you.

The problem is this: Everyone here and all conservatives accross the nation have differnet views of THE most important issue(s) facing the nation.

You need a party big enough to encompass a broad view of conservatism, otherwise you flounder in the fringes. That is why political parties hvae evolved the way they have. If the democrats ALL sounded like Ted Kennedy/Cindy SHeehan, they would never win anything. If the GOP all sounded like Michael Savage they would never win anything.

Thank you for exsposing yourself as a Deaniac Virtual Campaigner. This has ONE purpose, to split the Repblican vote and elect Democrats.

Bah. If anyone is to blame it's the Republicans themselves.

I understood Perot took 2 Reps for every 1 Dem vote. I may be wrong, but I recall that in a later analysis of the election.

I'd be happy with a 5 year moratorium on the Senate. Send them all home for 5 years. They are much worse than useless.

The new 'Republicans vote on Wednesday' game (FR mentioned)
Townhall.com ^ | April 12, 2006 | Dustin Hawkins

Posted on 04/12/2006 1:07:47 PM PDT by Political Junkie Too

We’ve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: “Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Don’t forget to vote! Wink, wink.” Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such “friendly reminders” are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you haven’t voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)

But there seems to be a new “Republicans vote on Wednesday” taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

I read it was almost 50/50. Either way those votes left the republican party over discust with GHWB.

Learn from the wisdom of our dear President Reagan.

In the 1970's, he was offered the opportunity to run 3rd party, when it was apparent the Rockefeller Republicans were firmly in the saddle. He said no, that it was far better to change the Republican Party from within.

He was right. He is still right.

Regards, Ivan
