It was Maurice Gibb, of the Bee Gees group, who died in Miami this last January. According to a report quited on IMDB,

''The 53-year-old singer died on Sunday, three days after suffering a heart attack, after undergoing surgery to correct an intestinal blockage. Miami-Dade County medical examiner Dr. Bruce Hyma said an autopsy carried out yesterday showed Gibb died because a condition called 'ischemic enteropathy' restricted the flow of blood to his bowel. The report said the condition was present from birth, but it is not known if Gibb was aware he had the condition. Dr. Hyma refused to elaborate on the condition, but Dr. Jeffrey Raskin, chief of gastroenterology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, told Associated Press a twisted bowel could cause a lack of blood supply to the organ and other internal problems. Dr. Raskin says, 'It can lead to a cardiovascular collapse and possibly could have contributed to the cardiac arrest. The event itself leads to a bunch of metabolic and potentially infectious cardiovascular things which lead to a death.'''

For what it's worth, the movie database also mentions that Gibb was once married to a Scottish singer called Lulu.
