If they were so concerned for the ecosystem, why let him build in the first place? Didn't he have to cut trees for his building?

Typically, there are state, county, and municiple rules and community covenants which must be followed when you buy the lot and decide to build. There is what's called a "building envelop" which is pre-designated for clearing of the lot for the sole purpose of building a structure.

I've been through this process. However, it was my choice to buy the property and knew, going in, that I would have to satisfy various requirements.

Nowhere in the story did I see if the trees were on his property or government property. If the trees were on gov't property he should be charged, if they were on his property they should leave him alone.

Here in TN, Alan Jackson cut down some trees on Corps property and was charged if I remember correctly he had to pay to replace the trees and pay a fine

>>A 2004 County Environmental Compliance Report found all kinds of environmental problems on the Pelosi's golf course. <<

Interesting. A golf course is typically the most heavily pesticide treated acreage on the earth. Used to work with some fellows who started out as greens keepers.

OJ wasn't found not guilty. He was found guilty, famous, and black. And all agreed the second two are an adequate license to cut women's heads off at will. Especially if any policeman in history has said mean, naughty, evil words.

Folks who have never lived in the country don't understand those who do.

And folks who've been to Lake Tahoe would know what I meant with the asphalt/concrete comment.

Nancy is a typical liberal. She knows that the rules do not apply to her...just to the little people...us.

Another example...

Nancy Pelosi, her commitment to organized labor essentially ends when it comes to her own businesses. Nancy Pelosi and her husband own a Napa Valley vineyard...

They grow very expensive grapes for very expensive wines, and they don’t use members of the United Farm Workers to pick their grapes.

This winner of the Cesar Chavez award hires only non-union contractors.

Nancy Pelosi and her husband also own a chain of restaurants and a hotel in Napa Valley, California. Despite her public commitment to the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union, you better not join that union and work for the Pelosi's, because you will end up getting fired.

A real estate developer I know complained to me that he had been fined 25k for "mistakenly" cutting down some trees on his property. Then he then broke into a big smile and said that the lots were now worth hundreds of thousands of dollars more.

Odd that the jury took less than 4 hours to find him not guilty.

I dunno... owning property shouldnt mean a license to stink up the neighborhood. Everyone suffers from negative wffects if someone does something ugly to his property.

That reminds me of when George Lucas was talking about all the changes he made to the Skywalker Ranch. He altered the course of a river, cut down many trees, planted some others, and basically altered the land to his liking. That's fine. But, just let someone who isn't a rich, powerful liberal do it to their own land and see the outrage. I'm sure we wouldn't hear the end of it if George Bush altered the path of a river that flowed onto and off of his property.

What exactly does the PRIVATE in "private property" mean, again?

I means that that periodic fee you pay goes by the name of "property tax" instead of the name "rent". The consequences of not paying your fee is exactly the same.

We need to create a new government. I'd like to have a Constitutional one.

We certainly have the right to...
...whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to [these ends]...it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it...

Ted Kennedy says that he supports an inheritance tax of 49%... Now, what rate did the Kennedy's pay?

The Kennedy's have transferred $300 million... from one generation to the other, and out of that, they have paid $132,000 in taxes, which is nowhere near 49%?

Actually it’s .004 percent.

The Kennedy's, like a lot of other people on the left, love the idea of paying taxes for other people. When it comes to themselves, they’re not so interested.

What's odd about it? A policeman admitted that he said a word that starts with N. The wonder is they didn't just leap out of the jury box and lynch him right then and there. No no, not OJ.
