Star-Spangled Banner -- in Spanish -- drawing protest, rage

MIAMI -- British music producer Adam Kidron says he just wanted to honor the millions of immigrants seeking a better life in the U.S. when he came up with the idea of a Spanish-language version of the national anthem.

The initial version of Nuestro Himno, or Our Anthem comes out Friday and features artists such as Wyclef Jean, hip-hop star Pitbull and Puerto Rican singers Carlos Ponce and Olga Tanon.

Some Internet bloggers and others are infuriated by the thought of The Star-Spangled Banner sung in a language other than English, and the version of the song has already been the target of a fierce backlash.

If they simply literally translate the words into Spanish, that's one thing. But if they change the words to fit a political agenda, that's sedition.

I'm encouraged by the backlash surrounding this latest affront. Perhaps people are slowly waking up to the very real threat America faces regarding the millions upon millions of illegals swarming across our border.

I believe that you're right. In doing this, they have stirred the pot in the wrong direction. I don't know of anyone who matters who is happy about this. And this exclusionary statement automatically excludes people like Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy and the rest of the anti-American crowd.

A quick web search suggests this song is actually in spanglish which I have to admit, I don't care. But changing the words would be offensive and if so you could add it to the thousands of offensive renditions of the National Anthem sung at ballparks every summer.

Funny...we never needed a German, Italian, French, or Greek version. I guess those legal immigrants were just smarter.

Habla Ingles. Muchas gracias.

That's about all the Spanish I admit to knowing. That and "No hablo Espanol." Boy, does that frost them.

This is simply part of the effort to legitimize illegals and create a bilingual, multicultural America.

Why would anyone want to do that, seeing how bilingualism has weakened our neighbors to the north and how multiculturalism has damaged countries from India to Canada to the the former Soviet Union and so many other corners of the world?

Becaasue they hate America, that's why. Pure and simple. No other reason.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12526651/

What do you think about a Spanish-language version of the 'Star-Spangled Banner'?

82% Awful. This version represents a rejection of assimilation into U.S. society.

13% Great. This version reflects the multicultural country the United States has become.

5% I'm not sure.

And thats liberal biased MSNBC!

The Mexican National Anthem, sung in French would have as much meaning.

I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.

Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them 'come fast as you can.'

They come in turbans and Ford trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks

They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!

Fourteen families, they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.

Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,
"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.

Send for family they just trash,
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!

Everything is very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.
