Of course if this landlord succeeds in making Bush unmarketable, then not only has he nobody to collect from, but he won't get the bump off the history of the house as well.

...of course!

See? These are the kind of people you hang with! Sure, I gave Dubya a black eye and bloody nose, but YOU PRESSED THE FART BUTTON!

I wouldn't do that, even on the worst day...

without a written and signed retal agreement, the owner of the property is screwed in most states. At this point he ought to be more concerned about a criminal prosecution for extortion.

Reggie never lived there unless you've seen something I haven't seen.

No written rental agreement = Owner SOL.

No written loan agreement regarding travel expenses repayments = SOL.

While Bush's parents may be somewhat unethical, I have no empathy for the scum who did this to themselves.

I only read some report that he lived there for a year in the papers.
I always said that it sure seems strange he could have been there a year without anyone checking the house out.

So you know the story isn't true?

Spring Valley is nowhere near USC, so Reggie Bush was not living there in the past year.

That's a no-brainer.

They claimed his parents were and that it was against rules.
Of course, like I said, the landlord will make money on resale.

Can the parents really be held hostage in their behavior because their kid is a playing sports at college?

I don't get how their behavior is connected to the son or USC.

Someone knocks on the front door - and the entire contents of the place is moved out in less than 24 hours later? That would be hard to do, no matter how many Heisman trophies you own...

Now a family who doesn't want to play getting all out in the middle of the night isn't that impossible or that uncommon at all.

They could have been taking boxes out in car trunks for a few weeks and storing them elsewhere and only had furniture to pull out after 9 at night and that could have been it.

You easily could have the house down with only 3 hours of furniture to move. I had a neighbor who pissed people off and they EXACTLY did that.

Easy to do. Do I think that happened here? To me that makes no sense.

It's against the rules for an agent or someone like that to provide benefits to a player or his family in connection with representing the player in the future.

But here, the agent isn't representing Bush. He was turned down.

So, if there was a benefit, and that's not established yet, it sure didn't taint the decision of Reggie Bush in any way.

It's not even clear that he knew about the living arrangement.

It's not even clear that there was a lease or that anyone was in default.

It's certainly not clear that USC knew anything about it or was complicit.

The people on this thread who want to strip the Heisman Trophy from Bush, make them forfeit every game from last year, and put them on double-secret probation are just lunatics engaged in wishful thinking.

The NCAA, more than likely, will trump your opinion. Hold on tight...

All points I was either thinking to myself or wondering about concerning the agent status.

Sounds like a scorned agent.

And if this agent guy was attempting to do this (which was against rules) should he not have his license pulled and ability to earn a living in this profession banned for life?

Yesterday, on ESPN's PTI, Reggie Bush said his parents LEASED the property.

Your argument is drowning.

Are you privy to the NCAA investigation?

If not, you're engaged in wishful thinking based on the facts that have been disclosed so far.

How could they allege that $54,000 in rent was owed unless there was a lease? Does that seem like an amount that is under value to you?

Maybe Bush's parents were deadbeats, maybe not. But you can't claim it was a bribe and then claim that they owed rent at the same time.

Holy smokes. The Bush family moved out of a LEASED property in less than 24 hours - and you give them the benefit of the doubt? You're either one loony USC fan or the family lawyer.

Exactly. The guy probably probably bragged all year long that Reggie Bushs parents were renting one of his houses. He very likely thought he was going to get some big payday from some third party and now that that side-deal is gone he is claiming that he was defrauded. There is a word for him: schmuck.

Neither. Which was it? A bribe? or a debt?

You can't have it both ways.

You really ought to shutup. Or at least, learn something about NCAA rules. It doesn't matter whether he knew about it or not, if his family or friends took gratuities during his final season, then he is in violation of the rules. I would be careful about throwing around the lunatic charge, especially when it appears that YOU don't know what you are talking about. Nobody wants Bush to suffer from his parents misdeeds, but in San Diego, the clear consensus is that his parents are lowlifes who are going to cost this kid bigtime. The parents got gratuities, that is clear. It is a matter of time before the penalties come down on Bush.
