Today President Bush held a brief Press conference to speak about the economy in the Rose Garden of the White House, he also met with President Aliyev of Azerbaijan in the Oval Office at the White House, as well as, with North Korean Defectors and Family Members of Japanese Abducted by North Korea. Later in the day he met with Darfur Advocates in the Roosevelt Room
I had trouble with photobucket so maybe they use the same server.
Somehow they were still hosting the photos but I could not get into Photobucket to up load or link. It could have been a coincidence and they were just doing maintenance as normally they continue to host during maintenance.
What an adorable picture! :) Hi snugs.
This one makes W look so much like everyones relative, father, brother, etc (or grandfather, hehehe. Sorry W. I mean that a positive way.)
Ok, I can be objective because I have no personal reaction to the film, as I haven't seen it. (I know, I might also be suffering from terminal ignorance about it...).
Just taking what you two have posted, plus what Rush and other pundits/FReepers have said, I think the filmmaker tried to make an "objective" film. Someone said think "DocuDrama" and that probably fits best. In this objective look back at that day and this flight, religion played a huge roll for the bad guys. That is just a fact. GWB says they hijacked a religion to excuse their cold-blooded murder; others say the religion itself is the problem...either way the perps looked at it as their religion animating them.
I know you understand that, Patty, not saying you don't. Your concern was the apparent moral equivilance of the two sides. That Islamofascist wannabes can look at the film and get from it a great boost for THEIR SIDE, just like we get one for OUR SIDE. My thought, without seeing the movie yet, is that historical fact rules the day on this. Ordinary American citizens overcame these religious zealot, murdering bozos ON THIS OCCASION. No one can deny that this is the outcome shown in the film, and that this is what happened in real life.
Rush said that he has heard of people, and himself seen them in a private screening, filing quietly and reverently and OBVIOUSLY VERY ANGRILY from theaters after viewing the film.
It might be that our enemies would also feel psyched up, but I wonder. The fact is, American citizens (NOT the government) stopped highly trained and highly motivated terrorists from doing their worst to America. Even an objective film about that still tells a powerful story because.....it is the TRUTH!
We will not tire. We will not falter. We will NOT fail.
I love when the President says this. Because I believe it is true...these words reflect the American spirit. America is not perfect, but she is the best there is....and we must protect the gifts that our forefathers gave us.
And, God Bless you, Nord.....your spirit and patriotism is an inspiration.
Absolutely.
And before last night's crash here (or whatever it was), I had wanted to tell you how sorry I was to read of your experiences on 9/11. It's heartbreaking... are your parents doing ok now?
Excellently well-said. AMEN.
Stress triggers it.
Thanks for that link - I got to see the replay of the press conference.
I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when Bush said to the infamous reporter - I'd hire you but you couldn't pass the security check - or something like that. What a great line. Everytime I think about it I start laughing again.
A lot will depend upon how their PARENTS handle the situation.
There are a whole bunch of us who will give you counsel and cyberhugs and whatever you need, whenever you need it, so don't hesitate to let us know, OK?
(btw, did you know that our heroine, Barbara Bush had bouts with depression too? You're not alone. She's as strong as women get).
And one more point..........I didn't have my first child until I was 30, and it was really a good choice for me.
Oh, yeah.........and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLDFRIEND!! :)
Quality time with Mr Oh last evening, and door to door for GOVERNOR Blackwell all morning has kept me away (other than prayer thread stuff).
Do you still want me to do that?............tonight I've got a dinner to go to, but after I'm back??
Are you going to be back in time to watch the Correspondents Dinner?!
I've got a number of obligations related to Michael's prom this evening (I'm not going to survive this); however, I should be back in time for the festivities . . . I wonder what George and Laura have in store for us this year?!
btw, my letter about Blackwell made the "Best Letters" on the Ken Blackwell blog! Yea, me! :)
My Dad had 4 great last years at the new place. He died last year in March, and is buried at the National Cemetery at Arlington, Texas, as was a WWII vet and Naval reserve officer (ret). The staff at the assisted living apartments did the all the cleaning, so everything was always tidy and emaculate, and he loved the food at the "restaurant" (community dining room) on the place.
My brother and sister in law had gotten them some great new furniture which he loved and we had shipped out a lot of his pictures and mementoes which bro and SIL had hung and put on shelves, so things looked very familiar to him when he came in the door. There was a flowering crepe myrtle outside the living room window and he loved the ducks on the ponds there. At the end he was calling them "chickens."
Mom is a bit lonely now, but my brother stops by and takes her out several times a month and my sister flies in to visit several times a year. I go maybe once a year, at most twice, as it is hard for me to travel. She's losing it now, so we have hired 24 hour people to be available to assist her as she gets confused and falls easily, and has broken both hips now. So far she wants to stay in the apartment and not come stay with me, but she has friends there now and likes the church and pastor I found for her when I was out selecting a place for her to stay in May of 2001.
We'd originally decided to have them near my brother as he's the youngest and we thought the healthiest. Then he had the quadruple bypass in March at age of 56, bad luck gene of naturally narrow coronary arteries.
My experience on 9/11 was tame compared to a lot of people. I mostly felt blessed that we'd gotten Mom and Dad flown to Texas and moved in before everything fell down.
