I know you don't smoke, but it is heartening to notice just how many non-smokers such as yourself are waking up to the fact that these bans hurt business. (I don't mean to imply you were not aware of the problem)
These bans hurt everything, and they slice off one more piece of the individuals freedom of choice. I don't beleive that they'll lower property taxes much over this. I think it's a smoke-screen to get everyone on the smoking ban band wagon. I really can't see them wanting to lower anything, IMHO.
No, I don't smoke, but it's looking more tempting every day, LOL!
Nah, it doesn't appeal to me in the least, other than a nice Ladylike Ceeegar once in a while. As we've discussed before, it's the Personal/Business Property Rights that come into play with these smoking bans that get my goat. ;)
Just found a cool fund that I'm going to roll an old IRA into:
http://www.vicefund.com
Investment breakdown by industry:
24.2% - Alcohol
25.7% - Defense
26.9% - Gaming
20.2% - Tobacco
3.0% - Other
Averages about 18% over time, which is terrific. 10% was it's lowest return since inception, which is liveable. You and I both know that if the balloon goes up, the last things people will give up will be their Beer and Cigs and Bingo. And if the balloon does go up, we'll be building up our military like crazy-mad, ala WWI & WWII. :)
