"United 93," Hollywood's first big-budget film about the events of Sept. 11, 2001, is faithful to the major aspects of the tragic morning it depicts. The movie tracks the key events detailed in the 9/11 Commission Report, the most definitive source on the subject: the commandeering of the United jet by four terrorists, the panic of the passengers and the heroic rebellion that ended with the plane crashing in a field near Shanksville, Pa.
But the movie, which opens nationwide today, is a dramatic re-creation that includes scenes and images that go far beyond what is known about the attacks.
Those scenes raise questions: How far can a dramatic movie go in imposing its own reality before it distorts the public's understanding of the event? And with memories of 9/11 still vivid and raw, is it too soon for such films to be made?

You were right .. I'd advise not to even bother getting the popcorn .. I bought the small and I didn't even touch
Also .. I totally agree that this movie should be seen by EVERYONE!
It's not gory like it was reported in the media ..
They do show the stabbings .. but movie producer didn't show long details of it ..
Though the movie is VERY intense
When the movie ended ... the entire theater was completely silent .. other then some sniffing .. there wasn't a sound
I did really good throughout the movie .. I was afraid I would start crying
I guess itwas because the movie has you on the edge of your seat .. even though I knew how it ended
I did however, after getting in my car before heading home .. take a couple of deep breaths .. and then the tears came
NEVER FORGET!!
Two words
Able Danger
So did Hillary. Oh, wait she carefully didn't *say* it, just held up the 'Bush Knew' headline on the NY Post for the cameras to snap a photo. Then she'll be able to play it either way.
I saw it and was surpised it didn't make me sad... Just made me awfully damn angry.

Thanks for posting your reaction to the movie.
I discovered myself murmurring 'Hail Mary's' under my breath as the terrorists were doing their endless 'praying.' It was interesting to later see the passengers saying the 'Our Father' as the plane was going down. Whose God won that battle?
I think the appeaser passenger was a good metaphor. How many articles came out in the early weeks after 9/11 claiming we need to understand the Islamics anger toward the US, as if that could justify such a diabolical act!!??

If reporters cannot understand evil .. there is no hope for them
You forget that when Hollywood made all those war movies in WWII supporting the war effort it was because Hitler had attacked communist Russia.
Hollywood was supporting the Soviets, not America, when it made those movies.
Today, Russia is in alliance with Iran and was in alliance with Iraq.
That is why Hollywood is against including them in the WOT. It's because they take their marching orders from world wide communism and socialism.
Thanks for the ping, Mo1. I'll be going to see it but I don't know when; maybe just on DVD for a variety of reasons.
. . . . even though an eyewitness fireman working nearby had to duck under a van for cover as the plane when over his head . . . .
My brother knew the pilot of the Pentagon plane. Where is he? Where is Barbara Olsen? Where are the passengers?
I've seen stopped footage film of the plane hitting the Pentagon, taken from surveillance cameras.
It's a plane, folks.
It's not a missile, ..nor a bird, ...nor Superman.
And anyone who says otherwise is a communist dupe.
I understand .. I was worried myself
I just want to let you all know .. not to totally believe some of the media reports
Yes ... it is a very intense movie .. but the producer did a very good job putting it all together
sorry, Charlie... the typical American's memories of 9/11 are no longer vivid and raw enough... it is not too soon...
David Beamer used to be a Vice President at a worldwide company i worked for in the 80's and 90's... God bless him and his family...
first of all, the media never should have avoided replaying the more disturbing images... secondly, just because it is a film does not necessarily mean that it's for "entertainment." it's a story. if one wishes not to know this particular story, then choose to stay away from it...
As a result of Democrat politics, we will never know through this commission why we were asleep at the switch rather than connecting the dots. The Democrats on the committee helped stage the lies of Richard Clarke and others in a transparent attempt to smear the President rather than look at what happened.
For allowing that kind of politics, and not truly pursuing the truth, the commission remains forever stained.
We saw it last night, it's a great movie. Everyone in this country should be told about how good it is.
It is a very good movie
Thank you, Mo1, for your opinion, because NOW I know I will view it the same way.
did MSNBC rip "JFK" apart for inventing IMPORTANT DETAILS out of whole cloth?
I somehow doubt it.
