People to counter Monday's boycott by shopping and speaking up

MISSION VIEJO - Sandra Sweet was 8 the last time she did anything political in public. She thinks.

She has this vague memory of being a little girl when her father took her to a political rally in Washington, D.C., that involved the Vietnam War and something about "a march for victory."

So it's surprising that Sweet, 45, is organizing a "pro-American" rally in Santa Ana on Monday to counter what some are calling "the Great American Boycott." Armed with her e-mail address book – and a sense of alarm – Sweet is taking the first political action of her adult life.

Wish there were a few more days to get organized. Too bad Rush is so busy with personal troubles.

Here in Discovery Bay we have a new upscale restaurant. My wife and I went in for dinner Thursday night last week. When we got up to the door we saw a sign "We will be closed on Monday May 1 in support for the Great American Boycott". We ordered a drink and talked about it for a minute. I then approached the owner who I happen know and asked why he would support such a boycott and added the there was nothing American about. He said he would not have any kitchen staff ... I said ... so what ... why don't you come in and just cook burgers and hotdogs for a day and keep the bar open. He just shrugged it off. To that I said ... we'll you won't be seeing us in here anymore ... as we will be participating in the "Great American Former Customer Boycott" ... lets see who you can do without .... illegal employees or customers. Then my wife went up to him ... and was NOT as nice as I was. My wife and I then drove to the local pizza parlor (who is open on Monday BTW) and had salad bar. it was more healthy and $80.00 cheaper.

Point is ... that is exactly what needs to be done to those who honor Pinko de Mayo tomorrow. Don't patronize those who employee illegals.

Yes, it is a bad move. Sympathy won't be forthcoming. Monday is my normal shopping day and it won't be necessary to change the routine. Many of the illegals are employed in the canneries for some reason; it would be a surprise if any one of them took Monday off to stage the protest.

See the words "shopping" and "boycott" in the title of THIS THREAD?

My post was a suggestion to counter the "boycott" by "shopping" at the named places -- as detailed by the link I included.

The title is specific to the illegals' boycott tomorrow, and your shopping suggestion relates to companies that support Republicans. What do you hope to accomplish by such an unrelated action? I just don't get it.

If you were suggesting we buy from companies that refuse to employ illegal aliens, I cound see the relationship.

There would be a small additional fine but if enough people participate that might even be eliminated.

I think the fine for insufficient withholding is $500. That's not so small for some people.

"The 11,000,000 illegals DON'T vote."

~~~~~~~~~~~
Not true at all. That's what our politicians want us to think, but it's not so.
Illegals can and do vote, and there is no way to stop them apparently, if they want to.
"There is no way of checking," said Maryland State Board of Elections Administrator Linda H. Lamone.
"We have no way of doing that. We have no access to any information about who is in the United States legally or otherwise."
Me too! Ordinarily Monday is a quiet shopping day for me. This Monday I plan to do some serious buying, interspersed with restaurant visits. The commies have come out of the woodwork and have plastered Flagstaff with red posters proclaiming something called "A Day of International Worker Solidarity." This will be a good opportunity to see which businesses are closed so I can avoid them in the future.
Shopping ANYWHERE would be a way to offset the effect that the illegals are trying to achieve.
Shopping at places that are at least 'friendly' to the GOP increases the chances (but of course does not guarantee) that the stakeholders are inclined to be law-abiding and employ 'legals.'
If we don't buy SOMEPLACE on Monday, we help endorse the illegals' cause.
I'd bet most Americans don't realize that "International Workers Day" is usually celebrated in OTHER countries by anarchists, socialists and commies -- and now the illegals and their supporters are bringing it here.
To acknowledge 'Bite the Hand that Feeds You' day I will make a long postponed purchase of a notebook computer...also will have my birthday dinner out a day early and will fill the tank of my car even though I could get by until Wednesday. Would have probably kept using my old desktop for another year but we all have our personal tipping point.
Buying on Sunday or Tuesday instead of Monday won't have any effect on businesses in this country. It's the same basic concept as the silly gasoline station boycotts. "OK, nobody buy gasoline next Wendesday." So, everybody fills up on Tuesday instead. Big deal.
Are you sure your "Mexican joint" is owned/run by illegals or illegal supporters? Baby/bathwater. See tagline.
Yes; because unfriendliness in neighbors is usually chiefly found only among "hispanics", which we know are ALL either illegal or anchor babies. And, yes they're ALL OUT TO GET YOU with the old mal de ojo. I keep on having to buy new bed sheets from all the eggs in my bed ( /sarcasm).
Que pendejes.
Not one article that I found was against illegal immigration or called for border control.
Yeah, that cheap labor is addictive. /s
You never heard of motorvoter? It's another Clinton era legislation that needs sunsetting.
Ask Bob Dornan about illegals not voting.
