It's really pathetic that press access to our government is limited to the same people and organizations. I don't like the MSM, but even if they were pro-conservative, it's not right the same people have this exclusive access. Remember that presidential press conference where every question was "What went wrong, would you like to admit mistakes?", asked 50 ways. If a random citizen were in the room we would have gotten a better question. Instead, the status quo is an oligarchy that reports the same base stories caring nothing for national interest and only for selling ads. You get these "Correspondent's Dinners", where our elected officials got to go kiss these peoples asses to go along and get along.

I agree. I hope Tony Snow can move some of the deadwood out of the "press corp". Why are there no bloggers, conservative magazines, or reps from OUR boards present at these press events? In my opinion, they are far more important news sources (new media) as opposed to the old tired media. Old media is only "Dan Rather" multiplied.
Perhaps, the NYSlimes circulation would improve if they only printed what, in their estimation, is "unfit to print". We might have heard about the fact that Saddam met with terrorists many times, that weapons of mass destruction went to Syria and Russia, or that Able Danger had the potential to protect us, instead of reading about "Abu Grab" for 6 weeks running.

If a random citizen were in the room we would have gotten a better question. Instead Town Hall meetings with no screening usually result in much better questions than the moribund WH Press Corps. At a TH meeting, people seem to actually want information from the President. WH presstitutes want to play "gotcha."
