Wages went from around 15/hour in the 80s to 10/hour in the mid 90s.
That's when I worked there.
Today wages are around 7/hour.

Mission Accomplished.

Cargill Meat Solutions and National Beef will both close for Monday’s rally.

We should start keeping a list.

Since Tyson/IBP, Cargill, ADM practically control meat packing in the USA, I think I will declare a Meatless May this year. It wouldn't hurt to cut way back on meat consumption and may even lower the old BP and cholesterol readings. I can use the money saved to buy gas for the truck.

If they were "immigrants", then what's the problem? Oh, you meant "ILLEGAL IMMMIGRANTS". Please, state exactly what they are, there's enough lies and misnomers from the msm.

Of course, I was vague, because I have no way of knowing which they were......

On a related topic...

My father owns a small business. He has one hispanic employee. He is concerned as to whether the guy is legal or not. He does not want to break the law. They guy has a SSN (but that proves nothing.) I can see the situation from the business owner's point of view. How can one be certain of not hiring illegals?

You know, that sounds doable. I hate the idea of going 100% vegetarian, however I suspect we could all cut back. I think I will also try to find a local source of meat. We have a meat market here, but I have no idea where they get their meat. I will have to ask.

I think that is a problem, because Im under the impression that there's not ALOT a business owner can do without the risk of a lawsuit. HOWEVER if business owners were really interested in not hiring illegal aliens, they would be banding together and demanding the govt make it easier for them to check.

Thank you for at least trying to wake people up to the tsunami that's coming, and having the patriotism to try to make a change in this debacle. It's really disheartening to see how many people have no concept of American current events/political issues but can readily tell you entire plot lines from inane TV shows at the drop of a hat.

Maybe these illegal alien protests have been a blessing in disguise, because I'm reading a lot of disgruntled letters to the editors of the area newspapers now, and it seems to me that a lot of people are getting nervous about the sheer numbers of illegals and what that means to native-born Americans' futures. Maybe American citizens are starting to realize that whole occupations aren't the only thing these criminals are taking over - they intend to take over America itself. And all with the bought-and-paid-for assistance of America's politicians.

God help this country. The Lord knows, our elected officials aren't helping it.

It's shocking just how fast these little SW Missouri towns are turning into third-world sewers, isn't it? Don Tyson is a real piece of work, isn't he?

You might not have to do that. Look in your local papers and see if you can find a local farmer who has begun selling meat directly to consumers in your area. We have a nice little meat shop that opened here in town recently. They're local farmers who process their own beef and pork (free of antibiotics, growth hormones, and preservatives and absolutely tender and delicious) and they're pretty competitively priced to the big boys. And, better yet, they don't use illegals on their farm. These folks that I trade with also carry Amish-prepared foods, too, as well as fresh eggs. Shopping with them is a win-win in my opinion. I get better foods, the farmer gets a little money and the illegal-alien-pimping big agriculture corporations don't get my money.

How can one be certain of not hiring illegals?

Does the guy speak English? Does his family speak English? Does he send money back to Mexico? Does he have a real SS card or did he just give your father a ramdom number? Not so helpful, but does he have a driver's license? When your father hired him, did he do a criminal record check? He could do a people search online (small fee) for the employee. Can't he call SS and ask if there's any problem with the SS number? Does the guy travel to Mexico regularly? Sitting over coffee, your dad can turn conversations to where he was born, how he grew up, etc. If he suspects the guy is illegal, then odds are he is. It's not that difficult to figure out if someone is illegal.

The problem is that one cannot subject one employee to scrutiny that ALL emlpoyees are not subject to.....or can they? Small businesses are more afraid of schyster lawyers than a toothless INS...

I lived in Manhattan (KS) many moons ago.
The Mexican `taggers' (spray-paint vandals) were starting to deface buildings about the time we departed.

I understand your frustration. I felt the same today, when I attended a local demonstration that the mexicans were having. As I stood out there, holding up signs which read "Stop the Criminal Occupation of America!" and "Send the Criminals Home Now!"... I looked everywhere, and I was the absolute ONLY American out there who was making any sort of public statement in opposition to them. God, wtf does it take to get the people to get off your a**es and DO something? I am so frustrated I just wanna throw my hands up and say "F**k America.. if the citizens do not care any more than this, they deserve for the country to go down the drain".

La Raza is the Klan with a tan. I appluad this guy. I would have burned a mexican flag at the demonstration the mexicans had here if I could have found one. If they can burn and walk on American flags, as they did in past rallies, then I can damn sure exercise my free speech rights as well.
