Web-posted Apr. 29, 12:40: PM Rally to advocate positive immigration reform By Pablo Candia Dodge City Daily Globe
Dodge Citys Latino community will participate in a two-day event Sunday and Monday to advocate positive immigration reform and defend immigrant worker rights.
The first part of the event has been named "A Day of Unity" and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday, and "A Day of Action will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. The Regional Latino Affairs Council of Southwest Kansas will promote these activities in Wright Park.
Organizers said they want to have a positive movement without attitudes that might be interpreted as confrontational.
"Sunday, April 30, will provide an opportunity for us to unite without having to worry about how it will affect our jobs, our paychecks, or our childrens education, said a press release from the council. We want to show our actions are aimed at legislators and not our people, community, businesses, school system or local economy.
On Sunday, participants in the Wright Park event will receive updated information on the immigration reform bill that is being debated in the U.S. Senate. Also they will receive educational information on how the process to get citizenship works and how to participate more in the community.
A history of immigrants and three testimonials from Latinos in the process of legalization will also be offered. Two musical groups, "Decision" and "Diferencia," will contribute to celebrate the event.
Mondays Day of Action is intended to encourage Latino immigrants to become more involved with the community by doing volunteer work.
Organizers said they are encouraging Latinos to go to work and send their children to school on Monday under the slogan "Positive action for positive change." They said Mondays activities will be mostly for those Latino workers who have permission of their employers to take Monday off. Cargill Meat Solutions and National Beef will both close for Mondays rally.
The activity will start with a tree dedication in Wright Park to symbolize that Latino immigrants also have their roots in southwest Kansas. Afterwards, the participants will be organized into groups to do volunteer work at parks, hospital, nursing homes and help the elderly, schools and the local Mexican American Ministries office. Organizers are encouraging Latino immigrants to wear white shirts during the events and carry American flags to show peace and unity, and to let others know they are also part of America.
The two-day activities, organizers said, are not exclusively for Latino immigrants, and the whole community is invited. Participants are encouraged to take lunches with them for Mondays activity.
According to the organizers, CBS Evening News staff phoned them to indicate an interest in coming to Dodge City to cover the events.
For those of you who didn't know-Dodge City is home to multiple meat packing operations that hire 90% illegals. I once worked there to pay for college, so I know the deal. Nowadays the town is 75% illegal and the city has collapsed. Schools bursting, hospital on the ropes, property tax increases of 15% a year for the last decade to "help" our new friends...
Welcome to the end of your country and enjoy a cheap Kansas steak..hehe!
I never, ever in a thousand years could have imagined Dodge City being overrun by Mexicans. I fear for my home state.
This is insane! The terroists threaten this country and they are allowed to, someone care to explain why no one will stop them?
Sounds like Dodge City needs a new sheriff, a bad a$$.
I did some work in a meat processing plant in rural America recently. In a town of 3500 people, there was a plant that employed 1500 workers (most immigrants). The plant was understaffed but couldn't hire any more because the town was at it's effective carrying-capacity of immigrants. There was an identical plant, from the same company, 6 miles down the road in the next town of 3500 with the same issues.....and another one 20 miles away.
No one will probably give you the same answer that someone will.
I hear ya. McCain and Mr Drunk bill passes, we get 100 million of them. Makes me sick.
These illegals should be rounded up and sent back to their beloved Mexico...Go home
Sounds like there should be plenty of potential COUNTER-protestors, then! According to the MSM these folks BENEFIT our communities!/s
Around 95 a huge wave of illegals came in.
The plants expanded. Wages went from around 15/hour in the 80s to 10/hour in the mid 90s.
That's when I worked there.
Today wages are around 7/hour.
There are two meat packing plants in DC employing around 2-3000 each. In a town of 25-30,000.
half the plant workforce is straight from Mexico-Nortenos mostly.
A Quarter is Guatemalen/Salvadoran and the remainder Anglos or Mexican-Americans in management.
Since the human tsunami first appeared in 95 we have built 4 new schools and 2 new jails, with a declining tax base because anyone who can flee has fled...hehe.
It's a friggin nightmare. I got out of there with college-same with some of my relatives.
The old relatives are stuck there living in Tijuana, Kansas.
I think we should adopt Mexico's Immigration policies.
Another reason to buy ORGANIC, grass fed meat....locally.
Your last post to me hurts my heart. I hope the people of Kansas rise up to this invasion.
Explains Brownback's position.
No doubt!
Also, it's not just Cargil, but also Tyson, Swift and ConAgra are shutting down to show their support for their illegal alien workers....

If you can't tell, I'm of the opinion that Cargill, et. al, are simply Anti-American Scumbags.
But sometimes I feel I am being too generous....hehe
I think it's time for somebody to get the hell out of Dodge...
hehe...Brownback is a a political manwhore!

Pat Roberts isn't much better.
But hey, at least they're not Democrats...hehe.
We are truly screwed.
Stopping this madness has to come from the very top, that's the only thing that will give law enforcement the courage, the wherewithal and the incentive to do something about it. But Rome burns while Curious George fiddles in the WH and calls good Americans 'vigilantes'.
As they see it, they already are in Mexico. And the way our leaders are dealing with it, (doing nothing), we have surrendered our Southwest back to Mexico with less of a fight than France put up against Germany.
Don't be surprised if Canada demands Maine back and Bush calls those Americans who oppose it "vigilantes". The difference between Bush and Kerry is shrinking more and more every day.
No one is organizing those who would be the the counter protesters. The Lefist anti-American organizers are focused on using and inciting Mexicans in any way they can to weaken the U.S.
ICE should set up checkpoints at the entrance to the parking lots of these plants early Tuesday morning with no advance notice.
hehe, when I worked there in the 90s La Migra would call a month ahead to let us know when they would be in town.
On the day of the check, a few feds would drink coffee with management while half the plant called in sick...this is just a big silly game.
Dodge wasn't that bad back then but clearly was a worse place to live than Garden City which also had a large meat packing plant.
I recall a former Dodge resident posted on this site that Dodge had passed what he called the "tipping point". Basically said it had gone too far to save.
I used to live in Wichita. Moved to Haysville, just (literally) down the street. My old neighborhood in Wichita is currently being taken over by Mexicans. When I moved in 10 years ago, enrollment at my children's school was 78% White, 12% Black, 5% Asian, 3% Latino and 2% Other. When we moved out last year, it was 49% White, 35% Latino, 10% Black, 4% Asian and 2% Other. (I got these stats off our school district's website) I am sure it is higher for Latino's this year. Mexicans are displacing all races at a quick rate, not just Whites. When we moved onto my block, there was one hispanic family, and they were assimilated. (They spoke perfect English and Heck, THEIR KIDS EVEN WENT TO PRIVATE SCHOOL!) When we sold our house (To a Mexican family that didn't even speak English!) Our block was over 1/2 Latino. This was becoming true for the entire neighborhood. I moved because I was worried my home value would go down in coming years. Got out while I could. Moved to Haysville. I am not a bigot, but these people moving in did not speak English nor did they share the same culture. Glad I live in a neighborhood now where that is no longer the case. Coincidentally, the school district here is 95% White and that includes the fact that some students that go to school here actually live in the Wichita city limits.
More likely didn't want to draw attention to themselves by trying to operate with just 10% of their workforce showing up.

I'm speechless after reading your post. It's obvious I'm ignorant of the massive influx of Mexicans to Kansas since I lived out of state for so long. Now I'm back and I'm shocked. I know they amass in all the states just to grow but I wasn't aware of the quantity here.
Dodge is a done deal...The flight of the middle class over the last decade is astounding, and I can't say I blame them.
When the taxes of the few go to support the many, the few with the money and brains to escape usually do.
It's a perfect storm.
Many blue collar industries, places that built farm implements, etc. either went under or moved out of the region in the last decade.(Many, coincidently, to Mexico)
Those jobs that have remained in SW Kansas are showing wage deflation, as there is always an illegal willing to work for less in Dodge City, be it construction, transport, factory work.
Guys who once supported a family on 40,000 are now told to make do with 29,000. If they can find a job...
Meanwhile their taxes for the new schools and hospitals and jails to support the "immigrants" keep going up.
Now add in the fact that young people are forced to flee to the cities because the small towns and rural areas have no jobs. To keep what few jobs remain the local gov't cuts sweetheart deals with the big meat plants to keep them in the city.
Then combine the fact that family farmers are in no position to compete with the Agribusiness giants, the big corporations who get the bulk of the benefit of public assistance and subsidies.
Meanwhile taxes and government regulations stifle the small businessman in the small Kansas town. That, combined with the growth and power of National chain stores has served to deplete the region of local stores and shops from clothes to auto repair.
In the end you have a town full of illegals who send their kids to public school and the emergency room. The streets and bridges are crumbling, the jails are full, and no one in court "halba ingles", while the cops are grossly understaffed.
This is all paid for by the few saps lucky enough to still have a job at Wal-Mart...hehe.
Never apologize for what you are not. You will not deflect calumny, and your denial merely lends currency to undeserved slander. Sincerity makes no impression on bad intentions.
Call ICE and turn these plants in. 1-866-347-2423

What a nightmare!
I agree. Thank you for that.
I worked in a poultry plant in the 1970's. At that time 75% of the employees were black. I watched the place empty out the other day, and didn't see anything but Latinos.
George Bush wants this for all of America.
Pray and work for his defeat.
Another shocker was Mojave Ca. It looks like 95-100% Arab.
:)Easy Does It:)
It's similar in other parts of the country. Yakima, Washington is now about 40-50% Mexican. There have been gang shootings in some dinky little Idaho farm towns. In the neighborhood I lived in back in California, it was 50% Mexican 10 years ago. Now it's 90% and the remaining non-Mexicans are mostly old with no kids. In Watsonville, California the public schools are very near 100%.
One thing that shocked me down in Carson, California was that in and around the Carson Mall there were no coffee places and no bookstores.
This is ridiculous. If someone wants to participate in our political system, they need to be fluent in English.
Where the hell is Marshal Dillon and Chester.
These guys would have sent them illegals packing for the Alamo.
Get a load of this....

No s**t - you got that right!
You know, I hear all of the time that the issue of illegal aliens is not high on the list of priorities for Americans, but I beg to differ. It seems to me that the MSM and the politicians want to say that we're not really concerned. When you get online, read comments in your local paper, or listen to talk radio, Americans are very upset and want to take action. My husband is from Kansas- Mead, Kansas, and his sister told him that many folks from one area are sending their kids to schools in another area because of the influx of illegals and their children.
The difference is this: A wolf in sheep's clothing and a wolf as a wolf.
Rally to advocate positive immigration reform
I was a lead singer for a rock'n'roll band in the '90's and I used to perform at the Cavanaughs in Yakima. The surrounding neightborhood was primalrily black but you could see the illegals moving in. Wasn't a good neighborhood at all, balck or hispanic. Around the time that the illegals were moving in, violence was increasing and my band stopped playing at that club. I remember shopping at the store across the street from the hotel and commenting to the clerk about the rancid smell. My goodness, I told him that he probably wanted to throw a bar of soap at the people who came through his line. He agreed.
The difference between Bush and Kerry is shrinking more and more every day.
We have the same things happening here in s/w missouri, courtesy of Don Tyson. My wife works at one of their facilities. A large portion of our county also works at a facility they have in Noel Missouri. Illegals have turned Noel Missouri into Little Tijuana. It is a crying shame.. that town had such unbelievable potential to be a major tourist attraction, but is now a cesspool.
Thanks to illegal aliens, the median household income in my county is half the national average... and our taxes are headed thru the roof paying for new jails and schools. They even recently moved our welfare office in the county to Noel from Anderson.. for one reason only.. suddenly since the influx of illegals into Noel.. 95% of the counties welfare and WIC recipients live in Noel.
My wife has cross trained in every department they have.. worked for them for 9 years... had TOP notch performance reviews consistently her entire time there... and had the best attendance record in the facility for 5 straight years. 15 years ago, she would have been promoted up the food chain at least twice. With new policies, she never will get a promotion (nor any further wage increase), and niether will her boss, or her bosses boss... unless they learn spanish. I kid ya not, that is official Tysons policy at least at that facility.
Only doing jobs Americans will not do huh? Believe it or not, there are some jobs we are doing that even Mexicans will turn their noses up at. A good friend of mine works at Tysons cleaning out gut trucks after they dump at the protien plant. This is unbelievably nasty.. wading thru rotting chicken parts, manure, etc. You can smell one of these trucks, and it will make you puke, 200 feet away. That seems to be the only job crew at their facilities on which there are no mexicans. They simply refuse to do the job, and as such it is one of the best paying jobs in the plant.. a whole $7.25 an hour. The American boys who are doing it do so because they simply have no other choice. They can no longer get any of the many landscaping or construction jobs, in Bella Vista Ark, that used to feed a few hundred American families in our county. Nowadays, unless a skilled sheetrocker, framer, or stonemason will work for about $7.50 an hour.. they will hire a mexican instead.
I grew up in Cimarron Ks.. 16 miles west of Dodge. I always kinda liked Dodge City, it used to be a pretty nice town. It is a shame to hear it has gone downhill in this manner.
