I always thought that "Good fences make for good neighbors" was attributed to Ben Franklin in "Poor Richard's Almanac".

Nope...but still a good guess on your part!

"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." That was one of Franklin's, and for most of his life, not all of it mind you, he did none of that!

I'm sure there's a few million teenagers we can put to work doing those things. Better them learning what it means to make a living than the business owners who have us addicted to cheap lawn care and car washes provided by illegal alieans.

My nieces and nephews complain how difficult it is to find neighbors to perform odd jobs for, let alone try to find a summer job.

"....Thanks, Doc!....."

No problem! Considering how many times this poem's been quoted here at FR with regards to this subject its probably instructive to post it for all to read.

What I get out of the poem is that Frost, in "walk[ing] the line, And set[ing] the wall between us once again" is extolling the virtues of COOPERATIVITY that the wall creates between his neighbor and himself; In other words, the wall leads to their peaceful coexistence.

<< "The forces of immigration control - the folks who want to build a wall - are winning the political debate. The challenge now is to convert political victory into policy action. That means repealing bilingualism, multiculturalism and ethnic preferences, so that every American, regardless of color, can get an equal shot at the American Dream, if he or she plays by a fair set of rules." >>

I'll drink to that.

Or, rather, I'da drunk to that if I drank.

Meanwhile -- and before we all begin dancing in what used to be our streets -- everyone with a dog in the official American History, Heritage, Borders, Language and Culture Hunt aught make a beeline to http://www.jtl.org/auster -- and avail himself of a free PDF copy of Lawrence Auster's "A Path To National Suicide!"

And read it and weep. [Applies as much to every Civilized Nation, shaggs, as to my America]

<< Good fences make good neighbours - no they don't. I have 22 miles of rough sea and the white cliffs of Dover between me and the french, but they are still not good neighbours! :D >>

That's very true.

But the, rooted in self-loathing, French, beginning with one another, hate everyone except a handful of meglamaniacal mass murderers -- and even managed, by setting off their bloody bombs at Muraroa Atol and in Auckland Harbor, to piss off folks twelve thousand miles from you!

So, welcome to our worldwide club.

I don't see how this is going to help much because the Mexicans don't make anything that we want. That is why they are all coming here. They don't have an economy that makes anything.

It's interesting because an 11-year-old boy I know was proudly flashing a bundle of cash yesterday. I didn't get a chance to ask, but I wondered if he took advantage of the illegal immigrants' boycott to do odd jobs like a good little American entrepreneur.

You're right twice.

That was the message about Frost's poem and

We should have a wall!

What a shame! I've had the same kid mow my lawn for about 6 years now. When he graduates high school, his little brother will take over.

Be sure to check the label on some of your clothes. Surprisingly, I've found them saying "Hencho en Mexico" after I've bought something that finally looked good, or fit.

However, before you all flame me, I think a really big fence is a good idea for the border problem.

The last couple weeeks I have been getting "surveys" from the GOP Senate pansies in the mail. They ask all about my wonderfully crucial opinion, but guess what--they never even ask a question about the borders.

I just send one back about every three days--with a magic marker scrawled across the front--NO AMNESTY; NO "GUEST WORKERS"; "BUILD the WALL". Maybe, just maybe, they'll get the hint. Subtle a-holes that they are.

I have 22 miles of rough sea and the white cliffs of Dover between me and the french, but they are still not good neighbours!

Reminds me of a ditty sung by an Irish friend: "Oh the sea, the sea, the beautiful sea, long may it roll between England and me."
