Burlington, Vermont - May 2, 2006
Mayor Bob Kiss wants to see Burlington become a "sanctuary city" to provide a safe place for undocumented immigrants to work and live without fear of deportation.
Demonstrators welcomed the announcement from Burlington's new mayor.
"I hope we can move forward to become a sanctuary city in the United States of America," said Mayor Kiss, a progressive from Burlington.

If this passes watch Burlingtons population mushroom with illegals looking for"sanctuary"and generous handouts.I'll bet law enforcement is really excited about this news(sarc).

So they are openly defying Federal Law against illegal immigration?
It means a policy could be adopted calling for city employees, including police officers, not to report illegal aliens to the federal authorities.
Federal law enforcement should arrest the city officials. And God help these clowns if their little city inadvertenly ends up being a sanctuary for a cell of terrorists who plan or conduct an opertion.
