Leading the Minuteman caravan to Washington, D.C. is our own Lyman Stucky in his patriotic Spirit of Allegiance vehicle -- a 1970 Mercury Cougar with 351 Cleveland.
I just spoke with Lyman on the cell phone from a truckstop as he put $52 worth of fuel into the Spirit of Allegiance. That was about 80% of a tank, and the gas was $2.98/gal. I pledged to pay for that tank of gas. This is a very expensive proposition for him going 3,000 miles each way in a vehicle that gets 12-14 mpg.
Coincidentally, the truck stop was on a corner. Yes, friends, he was standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, and such a fine sight to see. He did not confirm, however, that he saw a babe in a flatbed Ford. If a certain friend reads this, he wanted to make it clear that he has one woman on his mind.
Lyman indicated that there are actually some patriotic people in the media. They have had a great deal of positive reaction.
The caravan arrives for a rally tonight in Albuquerque. In Saturday they will be in Crawford. Tod bad Mother Cindy isn't going to be there. That would have been fun, I'm sure.

Wow, putting unleaded regular ($2.98/ga) into a 351 Cleveland? I hope he has some of that *Octane Boost* along to help the knocking and pinging. And 12-14 mpg for 6,000 RT miles, is going to be expensive.
Does he need some donations? Anyone know? I'd be happy to help him out with a $50 or so.
Doug, you've lost track of days sitting all day with eyes glazing over at the computer. This is Thursday. There should be no trouble making it to Crawford from Abilene for a Saturday rally.
I don't think he is using regular, but he is not using preminum to try to keep the cost down.
FReepmail.
FReepmail.
I send prayers that many thousands upon thousands of patriotic citizens join the caravan...
God Bless The Minutemen. We love you...

I hope FReepers on the route can at least join one of the legs if they are in the general area.
BUMP
Just keep telling him to take it easy, take it eaaaaaaaaaassssy.
I did, and since I can't sing, it hurt his ears.
Do they even make 'Octane Boost' anymore? I used 130 oct (av gas) in my '67 427 AC Cobra, back in the day.
My mother bought one of these when I was a senior in high school. She used to wonder why I wanted to borrow her car on Saturday nights.
Full tank of Sunoco 110, flip the air clearner cover, and go looking for targets of opportunity. That thing could flat out haul azz.
Amen, Mrs. Darla!
God bless the Minutemen and Minutewomen and Minutekids!!
Any Minute Pets going?
;^]
That's funny. MinuteKids and MinutePets round it off, nicely...
So cool that you're in phone contact with the Caravan.
I'm jealous!!
