Officers Claim Brass Interfered in Investigation of Rep. Kennedy Incident... Police labor union officials asked acting Chief Christopher McGaffin this afternoon to allow a Capitol Police officer to complete his investigation into an early-morning car crash involving Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.).
According to a letter sent by Officer Greg Baird, acting chairman of the USCP FOP, the wreck took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. Thursday when Kennedy's car, operating with its running lights turned off, narrowly missed colliding with a Capitol Police cruiser and smashed into a security barricade at First and C streets Southeast.

I don't think it is normal to escort someone home after an accident...unless there is a good reason.

the wreck took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. Thursday
2:45 a.m.
The report probably omitted that part about alchohol could have been involved.

I was in a two-car collision in a heavy snow. It totalled my car and the police officer was kind enough to give my son and me a ride to our destination. That may be unusual. I surely was grateful for it.

That sort of thing is pretty common here also...but not if you are swerving at three in the morning. :)

Yes, there is quite a distinction between a 7:45 AM heavy snowfall, no alcohol wreck, and anything Kennedy. =)
I had quite a case of the queasies from the whiplash, and as the police officer drove away from the scene I said, "I think I might throw up." The poor cop -- he said in this pitifully pleading voice, "PLEASE don't throw up in my car!!"
I said, "I'll just roll down the window if it hits me suddenly," being totally a non-criminal type who didn't know you can't roll down the back window of a cop car. So he informs me I wouldn't be able to do that and I said I would do my best not to lose my breakfast. We made it safely, tummy contents where they needed to be.

the police officer was kind enough to give my son and me a ride to our destination. I find that most cops take the "To Serve and Protect" part seriously. They don't get many opportunities to serve. I've found that most of them will go out of their way to be nice to you if you're nice to them.

If this proves to be true then the the watch commander should be thrown and jail and banned from police work for the rest of time. And don't forget to collect his DNA for a national database. And then make him ware a GPS ankle bracelet and place him under house arrest after he gets out of prison. Then we should create a "BAD Cops" registry database and post it on the Internet....So everyone knows if a bad cop is living in there neighborhood.

Bad Ideas:
1. Give a Kennedy a set of car keys.
2. Yelling, "the Red Sox fans are just jealous of how great the Yankees are" while in Boston.
3. Did I mention giving a Kennedy car keys?????
