"GUN CONTROL - that's a state issue - not the federal government - when was the last gun law passed by the House and signed into law - and,,,,,, what was wrong with it? "

It should be a state issue , but it's not . Klinton passed many gun control bills with Democrat and Republican control of the House . If the Dems gain control of either or both chambers this year , gun control will come back to the front burner and quite possibly end up on Bush's desk . Bush won't push it , but he might sign certain proposals if they make it to his desk.
Rudy on the other hand, might very well actively push for another "so called Assault weapons ban" among other infringements on our gun rights . Not acceptable at all ..

I am sick and tired of Republicans wanting the government to intervene in our personal lives. Get the heck out of my house and quit telling me what personal decisions I am allowed to make and not make.

Friend, killing unborn children goes beyond your "personal life."

Should you be allowed to kill your ailing grandmother in your own house?

I do. Giuliani isn't one of them - nor is that bottom-feeder John McCain.

I do.

I'm active locally in the Republican Party - have been for many years.

Whenever I see that phoney Giuliani or McCain I see red.

Allen, Rice, even Gingrich, maybe Romney, Pence, etc. there are a lot of REAL Republicans out there - but the media is infatuated with Giuliani and McCain.

Well, if you leave, then they win. If their garbage really bothers you, don't just troll back, but let Jim and the mods know about it. They can't patrol all the threads all the time.

Dubya's done a lot of good things for conservatives. Although I honestly don't know why, because he rarely gets credit for anything. All these "real conservatives" do is opine that "It's about time!" and/or "What about pet issue X?!!?"

Thank you, President Bush, for:

As of now, they are destroying this forum.

GOOD people........intelligent, kind, thoughtful, patriotic people are leaving.............maybe not giving their opus, but pulling back.

These thugs are succeeding in turning this forum away from being one of intelligent discussion and criticism to being DU lite........everything but the swear words...........same hatred.

Hatred is not the reason I signed on here either. Well thought out discussion, done with humor and respect, regardless of disagreements was the attraction.

This immigration gang with their thoughtless insults and hijacking of every thread are destroying this place.

And I'm sure they're smacking their lips at the thought of taking it over completely.

Bottom line, I don't blame you for leaving, Darkwolf.

Jake,
I agree. I like Rudy. Tough on defense and crime. He transformed NYC. He is a liberal on social issues, but then those issues rarely become important under Presidential power. We need leadership and I am not convinced that Frist or Allen are Presidential. We don't want McCain, who might not be stable.

I know..........but it's the MEDIA, ZULU. They love these two...........mostly because they aren't conservatives.

This is another 'ignore the hype' moment, IMO.

because a place I really, REALLY enjoyed will have been corrupted by lunatics.

I'll miss ya but, so long...

But on your way out, take a look at the poll on the sidebar...Illegal immigration is the biggest issue to hit the pavement and it's been rolling in our direction for years...

FR is filled with activists, not just the folks that want to chit chat with other like minded people...

Our country is going thru an abrupt process of change...We are changing from a Sovereign Nation to a nation-state in the global scheme of things...Some folks are happy to sit in the little box they live in and try to ignore what's going on...As long as it doesn't affect you personally, right now, everything is a.o.k...

The entire country is roiled in this illegal immigration debate...Why would you think FR would be less so???Have a nice day, non-lunatic...

Some times I can 'make a game out of it'.......and sometimes it just doesn't work.

They've got their technique down pat. They come in fast and in a group and force the discussion to their ONLY issue, and turn it quickly into a bashfest.

That forces reasonable posters to either defend the President, or go away.

Unfortunately, a whole lot of GOOD people are going away, instead of fighting these adolescents.

Perhaps it would help if you read the article.

Oh, how I wish that were true. As my tagline used to say, FR is a lotta talk, but little action.

My strategery for victory:

I will vote for the best candidate in EVERY election!

(Say this over and over)

If bored, alternate with Madam President, Hillary Clinton!

If we all do this we will

A) Gain seats in the House and Senate in '06.

B) Get the next President in '08.

As with Reagan, history will honor W as one of our bravest and strongest presidents.

And Clinton as the second worst president, behind Carter, of course.

Don't let the MSM's slimy campaign of discredit and disrespect distract you - in the long run they'll be dusty dinosaurs.

The entire country is roiled in this illegal immigration debate

What evidence do you have for that? Gas prices, the war in Iraq, and the economy are the top three issues on the only poll I've seen on the subject (an NBC poll).

Illegal immigration is never in the top five in terms of voting issues for likely voters, and it won't be this year, either.

You make the mistake of assuming that issues which consume FR consume the country.

When all is said and done, President Bush will have done more for Conservatives than any other President. His record is long and solid.

If people REALLY care about what's good for conservatives, this third party threat would end. This country CANNOT end up in the hands of the Democrats. It cannot!
