Ambien isn't a pain medication, is it? So first he blames it on sleep medication and then blames it on pain medication? I guess addiction to pain medication will get him more sympathy

He stank of alcohol, but to keep the "right wing wolves" away, he's pulling a Rush defense.
Sorry but this is the third excuse he's come up with since last night!

Abdominal and sleep medicine.
Depression medicine.
Now, pain killer addiction.

And just because he says that's what he's taking, that doesn't mean that's what he has been taking, or that it's all he's been taking.

So he should be charged with DUI right?

Shouldn't they still do a blood test on him? To see exactly what drugs he actually was using?

Two of the police present have said they smelled alcohol. A waitress at the bar IDed him drinking there

Very convenient that the officers' superiors were called in and no sobriety test was given. I suspect the waitress will soon be driving a brand new very expensive car and she'll have the same memory loss of the night.

What doc in his right mind would advise taking the two together?

Maybe he was doctor shopping for his addiction. The RI DA should seize his private medical records to find out!

But I thought he also said that without the sobriety test there would not be much on that aspect, either.

I wonder if his Congressional insurance pays for the treatment.

I'd bet the farm it's covered unless it has a limit and is already maxed out.

Thanks for the info--at the office and TV deprived.

Addicts lie and he could have been in a blackout but not one caused by the alleged drug combo.

As Major Garrett is now reporting on FOX- the police are getting the bar tabs from the local bars.

DC police or Crapitol Police? The latter would be gathering up the evidence to shred and burn.

Pain killers, sleeping pills, alcohol and stuff for his bipolar disorder. I think it might be better for him to say what he isn't taking.

I couldn't help but notice that the family that he said is standing by him were nowhere to be seen at his accouncement.

I agree, he would not be doing this if bar reciepts and witnesses had not surfaced.

LOL. Oh, Major Garrett just slammed Patches but good to Shep.

So, when will the Rhode Island DA go to his doctor's office to seize his medical records to see if he was doctor shopping for his prescriptions?

We probably shouldn't hold our breath.

I still want to know...

What prescription pain medication?!?

He never said anything about taking a prescription pain medication yesterday.

Maybe he was sleep-drinking at the Hawk and Dove and then sleep-driving. Does sleep-DWI carry a bigger penalty?

99.99% certain that his claim of 'sleep driving' is total BS.

Agreed... but being so wasted you black out is not unheard of. At least he didn't go off a bridge.

And his excuse in congress would be "sleep voting"? Just what the world needs, another Kennedy ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.

He must have really screwed up to be this "truthful."

I was just pondering the fact that the Kennedys are willing to throw this one to the wolves.

Daddy's got books to sell, you know? But you have to admit, he's done it a lot faster than Ted could have.

BTW, look for the Dems to start quietly trashing the Capitol Police.
