CNN reports Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) will hold a press conference today at 3 p.m. in Washington, D.C. to discuss his recent traffic incident on Capitol Hill.

We should all have a friend like you. You explained bi-polar perfectly. I think many of the Kennedy family most likely suffer from other forms of mental illness (due to the family history of such). It would had been better for this family if they had been more public about it, instead of hiding. Many Americans suffer from various types of *labels* and most assuredly depression. Most would understand his struggle. BUT when you lie and cover up your misdeeds, many as you have witnessed on this thread will have no sympathy.I hope for the best for Mr. Kennedy, but I do feel now he must resign his seat. He has proven unstable to lead especially in this critical time in our country.

That would be completely disguisting. But from other news accounts I've heard today, he obviously has some serious issues. One thing I picked up was his remember then I don't remember attitude. Those who experienced the bad side effects (like my son) did NOT remember anything. I think he busted himself then.

I hope he gets the treatment he needs. I am just sick to my gut at not only how different he is being treated than Rush was, but the reasons some liberal talking heads are coming up with for that different treatment. One thing I know about addiction recovery. You have to get humble, and you'd better be real about it. That's very hard for any liberal, and almost impossible for a Kennedy. He's gonna need some prayers.

Agreed, but bi-polar is very hard to treat. Many do not like Lithium and will stop taking it. He will most likely resign, I don't see him escaping this one. Haven't you noticed some of the Dem's are turning on him?

I remember the Ted Kennedy "speech to the nation" was used in a news package when Kennedy was running for President. It was on NBC Nightly News and they aired parts of that infamous fireside speech.

Wonder if he had his PJs on? Sleep driving is ridiculous enough, but he was either not dressed or he was alert enough to dress, get in the car and drive. To me---that isn't sleep driving. He'd probably never been home. If he could sleep drive, he needs to be put away forever because he's a danger to society for sure.

Rush didn't get in his car and drive. Rush didn't drink booze and take the meds. Rush didn't get out of bed, get dressed, get in his car and wreck it, while claiming to sleep drive. Rush didn't lie about it. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Maybe he didn't get dressed and was in his PJs--you think? Something doesn't add up. He either hadn't been home and was driving while intoxicated or he's lying about sleep driving. Anyone can go to sleep driving, but they don't go home, get up and get dressed, get in the car and drive. Not a chance. If he didn't know what he was doing, how did he remember to put some clothes on? Lying never makes sense does it?
