HOWEVER,, on election day, no one in their right mind DARES turn this country over to the Dems, no matter how bad the alternative with the GOP. I personally might "not vote" senator in protest to DeWhine, but only because I know there is no chance the Dems can win the Senate. If there were, even I would vote for DeWhine.
The media's wishful thinking on polls is setting the Dems up for a HUGE loss--maybe not in sheer numbers (I've been predicting a GOP senate GAIN of one to two seats, House, one to five)---but in terms of expectations.

What people here dont understand is Bush as a core belief believes in open borders. If he were to seal them, it would be one of the biggest flip flops in modern political history. It would show Bush to be nothing more than a crass politician. His approval ratings would not go up. The MSM would hammer him for being an opportunist.

No, you're dead wrong. I've been out canvassing for Blackwell here in OH, and while illegals is a BIG issue---even Ken Blackwell is starting to include "enforcement" talk in his governor stump speeches---NO ONE thinks the Dems can be trusted at all on this. It's a question of a party that cannot ever be brought around to one that we might have some leverage over, and for the GOP it's a winning issue, even as a negative.

I guarantee you that is the DEMS win, they will take extra constitutions actions to make sure the GOP, lesson learned or not, never get back into power.
Expect on day 1 of a DEM congress that full voting rights in the house will be extended to the non-voting representatives to PR and DC.
Also watch them use their powers to go after and expel members of the GOP, not rinos, but conservatives.

Absolutely right. In fact the numbers for Congress and the Senate are even worse.
There is a general discontent regarding all of government, not just President Bush. I don't know exactly where it comes from, but my best guess is it's a combunation of the constant obstructionist hate rhetoric of the left combined with the spineless impotence of the right. No one really stands for anything. The whole lot of them is a lighter shade of gray.
Moderates are irritated with Bush for pandering to the far right.
Given the economic conditions when he entered office, plus the shock of 9-11, Bush's cut taxes-increase spending was the right policy. Moderates recognize that Bush used this successfully and that his attempts to subsequently cut spending has not been accepted by congress.
You are correct that moderates cannot elect a president by themselves. We would prefer to make a compromise/deal with the far right. But if you don't want to make a deal, we will make a deal with the middle.
You, otoh, have no one to make a deal with except us. We don't need you, you need us.

Bush hasn’t changed. He is the same now, on all the issues, as he was just after 911. (That’s why the dems always sound so foolish to me when they try to say they liked him then but hate him now. Think about this.) Straight talker, no nonsense, does what he says he's gonna do.
Bush's accomplishments are huge. Watch his legacy in ten or fifteen years.

well we'll never get to test that theory because Bush will never close the border. I content that what conservatives want is for Bush to abandon his core beliefs, believe in nothing and react to polls....in otherwords a conservative version of Bill Clinton.
