5 Men Detained After Plane Lands in N.J.

Authorities on Saturday boarded an American Airlines plane and detained five men after it landed at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to a spokesman for the airport's operator.
The plane was bound from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport when an air marshal notified authorities of five men he considered suspicious, according to Marc LaVorgna, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport.
Port Authority police took the five men into custody immediately after the plane landed at 3:20 p.m., LaVorgna said.
LaVorgna did not have more details on why the men were considered suspicious. He also had no information on when the plane left Dallas or how many passengers were on board.

The Air Marshal did the right thing. The incident may simply be that an "incident" and the five will be questioned and released. But, if there was something else there, it did not develop into anything else. All on board are safe and five guys have a minor delay for which they may have been responsible for.
They are lucky the passangers did not kick the crap out of them.

Maybe the observant air marshall perceived the outline of cigarette packages in their clothing. Possibly even a lighter.
Does anyone remember the 3 "Middle Eastern Men" who got up on a flight from MEM-LAS on Northwest on 9-11-02? They all went into the bathroom together and shaved themselves. The flight diverted to Fort Smith, Arkansas and the dudes were taken off. I have heard nothing about it since. Certainly there is no rational explanation for three men in a lav shaving themselves. What happened to the story?

Weird thing- it went all the way from Dallas to Newark with 5 suspicious men on it? Why didn't they land earlier (unless they tied em up, or had a gun aimed at em)?
I'm guessing it was another violent ultra-Lutheran cell (apparently other passengers saw them muttering "Sola Scriptura" and "Here I Stand" while they headed towards the cockpit). I'm just glad that the Feds launched "Operation Hot Dish" to nab these Scando-American extremists.
