Last weekend in Chicago Ridge I saw "United 93." It's outstanding. The violence is not gratuitous. "Let's roll" is more an offhand comment than a battle cheer. Considering the subject, the movie is extremely restrained. This makes it more powerful, not less. The events of the day speak for themselves. They don't need added theatrics.
My strongest emotion was dread, knowing what was going to happen to these passengers before they ever had a clue. Once they found out, the dread dissipated and all that was left was to watch a desperate death match. I almost wanted it to hurry up and be over, because I didn't want to see the passengers suffer anymore. Everyone's last, weeping phone message was the same. "Tell my family I love them."
But this doesn't mean "United 93" is a bad movie. It's superior from start to finish. It hurts, but you must see it anyway. We mustn't forget what these horrid creatures did to innocent Americans. And all the while, they truly thought God was smiling upon them. For me, the movie is a needed reminder of why we invaded Iraq.

I have lots of problems with Bush but we HAVE to give this man a large majority in Congress so he can continue to fight this war--not give the Dems two years of impeachment hearings so our WOT will be hobbled.

Not only the 90s but the 70s and 80s as well. The continual failure to project American power from the Munich Olympics to the Hostages in Iran to the Beirut Marine barracks attack to WTC Bombing I to Mogadishu to the USS Cole, etc. finally led to 9/11. Now we have turned the corner but many don't realize we have to keep moving in the new direction.
After the second plane hit the WTC, I told my son, a freshman in HS at that time, this would be a forever war. They are everywhere and they have no regard for their own lives. You can only negotiate with people who don't want to be killed. Simply put, the Islamofascists must be eliminated. Period.
What I liked about the movie was the terrorists actually came across as cowards. If only those passengers could have gotten to that cockpit sooner. When they finally decided to take over the plane they were in charge and the ragheads didn't know what hit them.
When the film was over no one got up from their seats. I think most people had to compose themselves. Powerful!

Actually, history began when Bush got elected .. therefore everything is Bush's fault .. you see how that works?

Well .. "Let's Roll" was not an offhand remark. His wife told us it was something he always said .. like when they were getting ready to go somewhere and he would be waiting at the door for everybody to get ready and he'd say - "let's roll".
America is doomed. I thought this outstanding piece of cinema would fall into the same league as "The Passion of the Christ". Sad to say America and the majority of
Americans remain in total denial regarding the evil enemy at our gates. We will perish as a nation by our own hand. Just the state of our military as depicted in this movie, shows the outight and planned damage Bill Clinton and the Democrat Party did to America during his eight year term. As America sits in denial, our enemies plan our slaughter. Sorry to say, folks, we are going down and the playout will not be pretty at all.

However, the Arabs are united by THREE overpowering impulses:
1. The drive, perhaps understandable, to be free of meddling by Western nations.Impulse #2 may be and expression of impulses #1 and 3.
2. The drive to wipe out Israel.
3. Imperialism.
And Michael Bowers is quite correct that the paramount culprits are not foreign lunatics but self-hating, delusional Americans--the decadent Left--who are the enablers of America's enemies and their fifth column.
Yes, They believe nothing is worth fighting for.
They are far more interested in their own empowerment and in seeking revenge for the perceived injustice of the Bush victory in the last two presidential elections and the perceived injustice of the Republican attacks on the scandals of the Clinton administration, which amount to believing their own propaganda, and in advancing their petty domestic agenda and indulging their delusions, than they are in rising to the awesome challenges that we all face.
And their judgment is overwhelmed by their delusional thinking.
Unless the American people are ready to fight and die to preserve all that we cherish, our enemies will know it. Words and bluffing will not deceive them.
This is why President Bush's actions and those of the heroes of Flight 93 are so important.
This is why the empty proclamations of Democrat politicians and Leftists have no credibility, why "pacifists" have no moral authority. Everyone is for peace.
Bowers is right again when he says that great courage is now demanded of the American people in this dangerous world--great courage, moral and intellectual clarity, and sound judgment.
This means that the decadent and delusional Left must not be allowed to seize power, that the Democrat Party must be defeated at the polls. Those whose judgment is cloudy and whose intentions are suspect can not be permitted positions of leadership in these dangerous times.
The heroes of Flight 93 have shown the American people the way--what is now expected of us, what we must do, and how we can find the courage, strength, moral and intellectual clarity, and sound judgment to do what we must. We must now follow their example. We must not fail them, and we must not fail our children, our fellow men and women, and ourselves.
An enormous challenge is before us. We must rise to it as did the heroes of Flight 93.
