No matter where they are assembled Toyota and Honda are still Japanese companies and Nissan is majority owned by Renault, which makes it French. That is who ultimately profits from your purchase of their products. I would rather keep my money here is the U.S. supporting American companies. I hope you enjoy sending your money to Japan and France.

You do realize that applying the same logic to your above statement, you are supporting the liberal cause, as the UAW are staunch supporters of the Democratic Party and urge their members to vote the straight Democratic ticket always. They funnel millions of dollars straight to the Democrats and other liberal causes because when it comes down to it, the unions are all about socialism. So in that vein, I hope you enjoy donating your money to the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and John Kerry!

I enjoy it a hell of a lot more than sitting on the side of the road waiting for AAA.

I wonder how much money gets back to France after US and Japanese taxation. Heck, it's probably in Renault's interest to keep that income as far away from France as possible. I'm sure they use Renault's losses to balance off Nissan's profits and reduce Nissan's profits by extra spending on R&D that benefits Renault's worldwide operations.

It is strange that Renault was able to take the Nissan disaster and turn it around. But then, it was probably fun for the Renault executives to be able to do the things needed to fix Nissan that their own government would never let them do at home.

I don't mind sending my money to France or Germany. I won't spend money on an American made auto which is overpriced and will wildly depreciate in a short period of time. You must mean buy something assembled in America as most American products are build with parts from foreign countries. Take a look at products in the store and read the stamping. I looked at shoes (Florsheim, Converse, etc. and they were made out of the states). Also, check out Rawlings, Spaulding and others which you think are American corporations making product in America and you will see the light. I just saw something interesting in that the corporation sign stated it was an American Company. However, their product came from China, Japan, Vietnam, etc. I will buy American if the product meets my standards. I am not a charity giver when it comes to making purchases, especially large ones. My hard earned cash will not support those that make poor product.

Well said. And American cars are still good, IMO. I think the Pontiac G6 would put Toyota and Nissan to shame. Ditto on the Chevy Malibu.

Well I usually agree with SamAdams76 on many of his posts.

However, I do not fully agree on this particular thread about American companies.

I for one want to see a strong American auto industry owned by Americans for America.

Right now I am considering changing one of my vehicles.

Last year I bought a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer and have really been impressed with how solidly built and comfortable the automobile is to drive.

This year I am thinking about trading my 2003 foreign built auto for one of the new Ford Fusions.

My friend who lives in the condos down the street just traded his Toyota for one and is ecstatic with the car.

He says that Ford has finally built a car to compete with the big three foreign auto makers.

After church today I will drive over to the Ford dealership and take a test drive.

If anyone knows any thing about this car I am open to comments, good and bad.
