You mean they lend it to healthy family members to save them walking distance in a parking lot? That's crappy.

I was driving my motherin-law car recently, she was not with me, and it has such a tag. But I didn't park in handicapped spaces because it would be both rude and illegal for me to do so.

'Integrity' is what you have when you do the right thing- even when you know that nobody's looking. :-)

Sad, isn't it?   My illnesses don't qualify me for a handicap tag and it often hurts like the blazes to walk, but I still park at the far end of the lot because it's just a little more exercise.

However, there are many callous, angry, lazy people who think the spot is a privilege (????) and take it.   Get their eye sometime if you have the chance and you will see a glare.

My Mom has one of those handicapped rearview tags and always insists my Wife and I use it.
We never do.
I knew a girl who was born with a forearm that didn't grow all the way -it stopped at her elbow, with underdeveloped tiny fingers at the tip. She said, "I was offered a handicapped tag once, but there's others who need them more than I do."
That line kinda stuck with me.

When I was about 16, my uncle took me to an airshow at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM. We parked somewhere out in the boonies. When we got close to the public entrance, my uncle (a Korean vet who was in a wheelchair) tossed me his keys and asked me to go get the pickup and pull it into an open handicapped space.

When I parked, a couple of MPs came over to bawl me out for parking there. Luckily, my uncle saved my bacon and we ended up having a good conversation with the MPs.

I've never been tempted to park in a handicapped space. Between respect for my uncle and fear that those MPs will show up again, I'm not even interested.
