Colbert's timing was off. His lead-ins to the jokes were too long to be effective. His delivery of the punchlines was staggered and jumpy.

His ending skit with Helen Thomas was initially humorous, but it rambled on much to long and lost its humor.

Colbert needs to go back to clown college. In comedy, timing is everything. Colbert's timing was way off.

When FOX News Channel broke away to show some of the event, all I
could think was...
FOX has shown that some liberal comic types aren't all that funny.
And FOX did it by simply reporting the news.

I agree the Helen Thomas skit could have been really funny but he totally wrecked it.

I've never appreciated comics whose acts consist of alternating snide comments and smirking stares toward their audiences or cameras.
