The numbers point out that a LOT of people who normally vote Republican are not overly enthused about the current government. There is a real danger that a lot of Republican voters are going to stay home.
I can stay home and get (1)deficit spending (2)no closing of the border, and (3)the oil industry beat up for supplying us with oil.
Fund is suggesting that the GOP better get off their behinds and demonstrate that they are DIFFERENT!

But remember, there's no difference between the parties! < / sarcasm >

The real distinction is CONSERVATIVE/LIBERAL!
In fact a LIBERAL REPUBLICAN (i.e., McLame, Snowe, Collins, Chaffee, etc.) is more damaging than a LIBERAL DEMOCRAP because he is assumed by the majority of voters to be supportive of his Majority Party.
The Liberals have overwhelming control of both Houses of Congress and a very strong influence on the Administration.

the GOP better get off their behinds and demonstrate that they are DIFFERENT That is a really nice thought.
Too bad it CAN'T (note that I did not use the word WON'T) happen.

If you don't know whether or not your going to sit out the next election, watching Russert interviewing Pelosi on Sunday was the cold water that woke me up.
The Dem plan is simple. Take control and then begin an endless series of investigations and hearings of Republicans. As for her insistence that impeachment is not on the agenda, watch how fast that stance changes if she becomes Speaker of the House.

"I can stay home and get (1)deficit spending (2)no closing of the border, and (3)the oil industry beat up for supplying us with oil."Yes, but also consider the other 'benefits' of staying home, such as gay marriage, unlimited abortion, gutted military, roll-back of tax cuts, rampant inflation, higher taxes, multicultural diversity a la Janet Reno.
Need I go on?

"a LOT of people who normally vote", don't do so in the midterm elections.
The point I made is that they have not even started spending the money yet to motivate the base.
"I can stay home and get ..."
You can stay home and screw yourself a lot worse, and will if that is what you decide.

I can stay home and get... (2)no closing of the border, I have seen this several times on FR in the last few days. Border security concerns have quietly morphed into a concern to 'close the border,' that is end legal immigration entirely.
Considering there's nobody on the political landscape of any credibility who is advocating closing the border, this is a strange policy concern. No matter what happens, you aren't going to get it.
So what do you gain by placing a strong value on closing the border, given there is zero chance of that happening?
