But, Bud Selig is no Kennesaw "Mountain" Landis.

In defense of Selig [an almost impossible task], when Landis was the commissioner, there was no Union, there was a reserve clause, and the owners had given him carte blanche because the Black Sox had tarnished the game to the point that the owners needed a strong commissioner. And there's some evidence that Landis was aware of Ty Cobb and, I believe, Grover Cleveland Alexander fixed a game [or games], but did nothing about it.
