Still not answering? I'll ask again... do you think that the German children where... as you put it, "not innocent victims IMO."
To put it more plainly, Stalin murdered (or had murdered) many times more people than Hitler.
Yes, but Hitler had much less time to complete his "good works".
My opinion is that it in no way cheapens the horror committed against innocents in other countries by the Germans by condemning that committed against German innocents. Indeed it is hypocritical to condemn one and not the other.
As for me I won't dignify that question with a response.
Then I can only assume, based upon your original post, that you believe the children did deserve what they got. And, that you are only refusing to say it out plainly now because you know it would be hypocritical to condemn Nazi atrocities against innocents while condoning those committed against German innocents. I repeat, it does not gloss over what the nazis did, nor is it disrespectful to the suffering of others, to have sympathy for the children of Germany. Only a tribalistic barbarian, like the Nazis themselves, sees his enemies as a tribe, and not as individuals.
Well said!
No, but the knowledge that there is a voter out there who can rationalize reprisals against innocent children might drive me to seek a prescription.
That is true.
Sauce and goose.
Old recipe.
I don't think so. My question to you was valid I think given the context of this thread, and given the fact that others besides you are rationalizing it. Your refusal to answer is depressing me, but it's not just you.
I rationalized no such thing. In my very first post on this thread I made a point to say the Russians were wrong for what they did. If you choose to ignore that or pretend I didn't write it, that's your choice and your problem.
No, what you said was I'm not saying that the Russians were right to act the way they did, but the master race Aryans were not innocent victims IMO. That is a rationalization.
Not saying that they were right is politician talk, it means you aren't saying anything, it means you are not making a moral judgment at all. It doesn't mean you necessarily think it was wrong, especially since you implied that the Germans got what was coming to them and did not bother to exclude German children. The logic implicit in your comment is that what happened to the innocent was a punishment for the guilty. This is further reinforced by the fact that you will not clarify your statements to me and admit that what happened to innocent German children was in fact NOT deserved. Just type it... those German children didn't deserve what happened. There is no caveat needed. No rationalization such as Were the Russian and Jewish children guilty? We know they were not. But, that has no baring on the rightness or wrongness of what was done to German children, unless the crimes perpetrated against the one mitigate the seriousness of the crimes against the other. Which is what you implied in your response to me. You could have cleared it up there, but instead you chose to rationalization it thus.
If you believe that what the German solders and politicians did gave a moral justification for what the Russians did that's a rationalization. If you don't believe that just say so, and don't come back with well the Germans did it first! like you did in your response to my challenge.
The devil is in the hearts of men, and he must be removed. Our Pope knows this and we should listen to him. The foul words issued from the father of lies is what mankind swallowed instead of the Holy Eucharist, the Fruit of Life. The world reaped the whirlwind and that's why so much of humanity was raped and killed. It wasn't because of a nation or nations, an ethnic race or cultural upbringing. It was the devil in the bosom of men that led man to turn against his brother and slaughter.
This is indeed true. It would be wonderful if the dying would be restricted to those who are the trigger to this kind of barbarism.
I apologize, *this* is probably the thread in which you plan to so effectively counter my WWII arguments...
Good night!
