WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written President Bush an 18-page letter discussing religious values, history and international relations. Following is an unofficial translation from the original written in Farsi:
"Mr. George Bush, president of the United States of America
For some time now, I have been thinking, how one can justify the undeniable contradictions that exist in the international arena -- which are being constantly debated, especially in political forums and amongst university students. Many questions remain unanswered. Those have prompted me to discuss some of the contradictions and questions, in the hopes that it might bring about an opportunity to redress them.

It's not just 'reportedly', Mahmoud . . . as you will soon learn.
There was a time when we would have simply eliminated an unstable turd like this...His threats need to be taken much more seriously. Instead, the "UN" is preparing a package of sticks and carrots."
I really wish he was sincere. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's very important for us to listen.
But it's a little disingenuous for him to say "I just can't imagine why Israel thinks that our innocent scientific research is a threat to them".
He would have a more defensible position if he said "we know that Israel has nuclear weapons and they're as much a threat to us as anything we could develop would be to them."
Quintuple Barffffffff...This could have been written by cindy "shaheed", michael moron, dennis kucinbitch, or any other radical leftist POS.
They should all be proud to be on the same page as Mr. AmazingJihad.
He's also clearly referencing left-wing American propaganda. Reminds me of bin Laden's pre-election announcement in 2004. It damages credibility that he otherwise might have had.
Mad Mahmood picked the WRONG person to look for a penpal!
Uh, he states that his country condemned the actions of 9/11. Didn't we see pictures throughout the Middle East of them celebrating?
The President should craft a response, answering Achmadinejad, point by point. You never know, that might impress some of the more democratically-minded folks in Iran.
The West is being scammed by these 9th Century knuckledraggers. But Israel won't be fooled.
Any hopes Ahmadinejad would offer a solution to the nuclear enrichment impasse Iran has with the United Nations were dashed in the letter, the first direct correspondence with Washington since 1979.
"Can one be a follower of Jesus Christ, the great Messenger of God ... But at the same time, have countries attacked: the lives, reputations and possessions of people destroyed," the 18-page letter said.
I thought it must be the latest UCC ad.
"Democratically-minded" Iranians are as rare as a "reasonable DUmocrat".
Maybe, but I wonder. Every so often you here about Iranian protests.
Has Mad Mahmood been hanging with Cindy Sheehan?
Either that or gathering talking points from DU.
Is there any doubt that they are on the same team?
Ha! This guy is a democrat! Every party talking point! Just a coincidence I guess.
This is the message.
It might as well be Liberal talking points, except twisted and spun by this fellow. He is not talking to our President, or the people of the US. This is for the edification and consumption of those who would call themselves the enemies of the United States, Freedom and Democracy.
What a long winded, shallow thinker.
Actually hundreds of thousands gathered spontaneously in Teheran to protest in support of America. This was most definitely not at the behest of, but rather in defiance of, their own government. The mad mullahs sent thugs to attack the crowds, and even (reportedly, IIRC) to lob grenades.
I think this may have been the largest pro-American demonstration anywhere in the immediate aftermath of 911. There was also a very large demonstration in Pakistan, believe it or not. (There's a very large proportion, indeed majority, of the Pakistani population that is pro liberal-modernist, and hates and distrusts the religious radicals in their midst.)
