Both the Border Patrol and the White House dispute this story.

At least this time they included the information that debunks the original claims.

Thanks Norm. I am still waiting to see supporting evidence that this story is phony as some FReepers have stated on another thread.

Apparently, World Net Daily can be accurate sometimes, though still not enough to be reliable.

The Daily Bulletin's managing editor, Jeff Keating, said Tuesday the newspaper stands by its story.

Sort of like CBS stood by their Bush national guard forgery story. Until they couldn't any more.

I believe the NY Slimes stand by their articles also, that doesn't always make them true.

From the Internet and in no particular order..

"Drug cartels spend $500 million a year to pay off corrupt Mexican generals and police officials. . . ."

"The Mexican army is escorting those attempting to cross over the US border illegally – including known drug-runners. . . ."

"Mexican military support for illegal drug smuggling, he said. . . ."

"US OFFICIALS SAY MEXICAN MILITARY AIDS DRUG TRAFFIC - New York Times"

"A rural Texas sheriff accuses the Mexican army of protecting a drug smuggling operation. . . ."

Is it just me or is there a pattern emerging here?

Martinez did not immediately return a message left Tuesday by
The Associated Press, and an after-hours call to the Mexican embassy
in Washington, D.C., was not immediately returned.

Well, The Border Patrol declined to come on Lou Dobbs' show this evening.

The next couple of days should be interesting.
To see if The Border Patrol and The Mexican Embassy were stalling for
time to get their stories straight.
And were just too inept to respond quickly even if the truth is on
their side as regards the news story.

This place is getting nuttier than a fruit cake.

There is exactly zero proof that this story was anything but wrong. I'm absolutely stunned that so many are still buying it, in spite of the fact that there is no corroborating evidince other than some paranoid rambling.

Let's face it, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidince," and claiming that the government it tipping the Mexican army off to what American citizens are doing is pretty friggin extraordinary.

"The administration is currently attempting to cut off one important source of real-world information: Border Patrol whistle-blowers, who are being threatened with retribution. Agent Ron Zermeno, of the Temecula, California, office, told local officials last August that illegal-immigrant roundups had been stopped by officials in Washington, setting off a public outcry, according to the North County Times. Zermeno says he was subsequently threatened with being fired by Border Patrol management. It seems the Border Patrol is implementing new, looser rules regarding agents’ performance reviews—rules that Border Patrol agents say can be used to kill dissent within the ranks."

Citing interviews with Border Patrol agents and documents on a Mexican government Web site, the newspaper reported agents notify Mexican authorities

The plot thickens.

I wouldn't believe it if GW or his administration told me it was 11:43 PM PDT right now, I would double check.
