NEW YORK -- U.S. Sen. John McCain is set to deliver commencement speeches at two New York universities next week -- and that's drawing fire from campus activists who oppose his conservative views and support for the Iraq war.
The potential Republican presidential candidate is scheduled to address Columbia's "Class Day" on May 16 and will speak at commencement ceremonies at the New School three days later.
At the New School, there's a petition asking that McCain be disinvited from commencement ceremonies. A protest leader said the senator's stands on abortion and gay rights don't reflect the values of the New School. But he insists McCain would be welcome to speak in a different setting, one that allowed students and faculty to engage him.
At Columbia, protesters have launched a Web site and discussion board titled "John McCain Does Not Speak for Us."
McCain is scheduled to speak May 13 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. In his 2000 president campaign, the senator blasted Liberty's founder, Jerry Falwell, as an "evil" influence over the Republican Party.

New School is located in Greenwich Village and offers an advanced degree in "media studies"
Personally, I'd be quite proud if I was disinvited from *that* freakshow.
Who said he was?
Whenever these jerks invite some controversial speaker, who bashes the US or Christians, they always defend it by saying they aren't condoning the ideas being expressed BUT everyone has a right to be heard, etc.
I guess they don't like some ideas they don't agree with more than other ideas they don't agree with.
This kind of thing is McCain's Sister Soulja moment. How liberal can he be if he is pissing off liberals? (I don't think he is a liberal, btw.)
Agree. Is that the best McCain can do for an invite?
LOL! I love that picture!

You hit it on the nail. These hypocrites don't believe in free speech - they only believe in speech they agree with. Liberals suck.
If you are liberal you have tolerance for those who think like you. In a way that is how islamists think. Kindred souls - how scary.
They support him on those things.
